Modern amenities incorporated into historic building in St. Paul Square
Historic 1800-era building was repurposed in 2000 to become the Best Western Sunset Suites -- Riverwalk. The public areas are decorated with stained glass doors and have naturally sourced wood flooring, brass ceilings, original brick walls, and a grand staircase on which belles may practice descending is in the lobby. High-speed Wi-Fi is complimentary and available throughout the hotel. Parking is also free. A fitness center is on site. Guest laundry services, including dry cleaning, are available. San Antonio, the good and the bad
The room was spotless and a good size. It had a decent sized television, a microwave, and a small refrigerator as well as a coffee pot. The shower was nice with hot water and a decent stream of water. The parking lot behind the hotel was usually full so we had to park in a lot down the street which did not make us feel comfortable. We had to walk over freeway entrances to get to the sidewalk. We were not aware that there wasn't a pool until we got there. I would stay in a Best Western Suites hotel again but in a better location.

Short drive from hotel
My husband and I went to 5 Spanish missions including The Alamo and really enjoyed that. We actually went to Easter mass at one of them and it was very interesting!We also enjoyed dining at Ruth Chris's Steakhouse, The Chart House restaurant, and the Guenther House restaurant. Be sure and try a prickly pear margarita- very sweet but good!We rode the barge down the Riverwalk and enjoyed that as well.

very nice accomodations
Very clean & convenient to downtown without traffic hassle. Very small parking lot, but free, which is hard to find at a quality place downtown. Overflow parking was about a half block away, which is a little spooky late at night. Overall, it is recommended.

Great Location!! Great Price!
My husband and I travel to San Antonio annually. We usually stay at the Hyatt, which is a nice hotel but overpriced. The Bestwestern was perfect, and a much better value. Room was Great.

Pleasently surprised
It was quaint in that it kept some of the old west charm and we loved the mission style furnishings, but it still provided with a microwave and fridge in the room. It is in walking distance to the Riverwalk and across the street from a converted train station. You can even get the trolley behind the hotel. Great location without the high price of on the riverwalk.

Great for exploring San Antonio
Not on Riverwalk but very close. It is on the yellow trolley line if you don't want to walk. The hotel is very well maintained. It was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and very helpful. I'd stay there again. If you are a light sleeper then the closeness of the railroad will be a problem.

Nice stay
We really enjoyed our stay - the only problem was/is the ongoing construction at the bordering plot. Staff was very pleasant and rooms were clean and comfy. The breakfast was rather generous for a fee of 3.18 - not the usual instant breakfast.

Very Friendly staff
The room was absolutely wonderful. the staff were some of the most helpful individuals I have ever encountered. I could not have been any more comfortable anywhere else. I would definitely stay here again and again.

Good Budget Break
The Best Western Sunset Suites offer comfortable clean accommodation only a few minutes walk away from the Riverwalk and the many bars and restaurants it has to offer. The hotel offers a substantial breakfast which for a meer $3 you can eat as much as you want from both a hot and cold buffet selection.The rooms were nicely furnished with solid wood furniture and were of reasonable size with a separate seating area away from the main bedroom area. The only downside to the hotel is the noise from the nearby train crossing at which trains are obliged to sound there horn. The hotel does supply earplugs in the rooms for this reason and do warn you of the occassional passing train noise, but we did not find this too bad. Other benefits are free parking and a nice sports bar at the other end of the block, on the corner, with the Ruth Chris's Steak House across the road from that. The best steak we've ever experienced.
