Prime location with free breakfast and focus on local Tex-Mex standouts
The three-story, non-smoking Best Western Alamo Suites is just a mile from Market Square and the Amtrak station and provides a free continental breakfast for its guests seven days a week. Parking is free -- a rarity -- as is high-speed Internet access. The pool is indoors and heated. A fitness center stands at the ready. A Hidden Gem
The Best Western Alamo Suites is a hidden gem. I stayed there for four days and during my stay, the service was extraordinary. The staff was always willing to help our every needs from fetching taxis, to changing money, to providing the best products and breakfast food possible. their breakfast provided something for everyone. The only negative aspect is the location. This hotel is located several miles from Downtown and taxis can get expensive. Not on a comfortable walking distance. However, public transportation is accessible and at a great rate. Take time to learn the routes and your trip will be wonderful. A plus is that it is walking distance from a wonderful Mexican bakery.

For vegetarians, The Original Mexican Restaurant on the Riverwalk offers good choices for vegetarians. A great choice is the calabacitas quesadillas. Another choice is the chile poblano stuffed with calabacitas. These are wonderful choices on the Riverwalk. For desert, you must try the Mexican bread at Mi Tierra. The vegetarian choices are not great but the pastries are delicious.

Great location...very short drive to riverwalk. Clubs, some shopping. If u really want to shop don't go to the one on the riverwalk. It's very limited

EL PASO TRAVELERS EXPERIENCE
THE HOTEL EXPERIENCE ITSELF WAS OUTSTANDING. EVERY COMFORT IMAGINABLE WAS AVAILABLE. THE LOCATION HOWEVER, WAS VERY MISREPRESENTED. THE RIVERWALK WAS MUCH MORE THAN A MILE DISTANT AND THE HOTEL LOCATION WAS SITUATED IN A DISMAL UNSAFE APPEARING AREA; UNFIT FOR FEMALE TRAVELERS.

Best Wester Alamo Suites
I ran the San Antonio half-marathon. The front desk staff were extremely nice and helpful. The breakfasts were lacking, no apples, no peanut butter or honey packets, no pitchers of water. The room was clean but never seemed to be enough towels. Had to make a special request each time for towels.

Great Trip!
My ONLY complaint about this hotel was the housekeeping staff didn't understand the Privacy Please sign on the door. Otherwise the staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was very clean and comfortable.

The Riverwalk is an absolute must-see! Relaxing, great food and shopping (and the 46 oz Margarita at Republic of Texas can't be beat!)

Golf traveler to San Antonio
A great value
The hotel was a good hotel. The views were non-existent, but we weren't interested in views. The rooms were large and comfortable with a full refrigerator as well as micro wave and coffee maker. We liked having the sofa and coffee table. The hotel was older but recently updated. We liked the convenience of the business center and the continental breakfast. The only negative is that we were advised to not leave anything in our vehicle over night, but again not really a problem. Not the best neighborhood but for the price we paid, we think it was a great value.

vacation
It was a nice trip for a vacation getaway. The hotel was in a not so good location. The room itself was nice but very, very hot. The air conditioner functioned about 2/3 of the time but could not cool the room. The hallways outside the rooms were cooler than inside. Also, the rotating fan in the living area was broken and not useable to circulate the air. On out last night in the hotel room, one of the two attached light fixtures began to short and throw sparks from the wall. This was after the light was turned off! We also inquired about a fitness area and was lead to believe it had full amenities. When we arrived and got ready to work out...the fitness area had a rowing machine and 2 lifecycles-that was it! On the good side, the staff was very friendly and courteous. I would not recommed the hotel to friends
