When I arrived and checked in I was given my key and once i went to my assigned room I found that someone was still in the room that was now assigned to me the bed wasnt made floor dirty and walmart trash bags was every where. Wasnt what i expected at all. I went back up to the front desk and the clerk issued another room that was some what presentable.

Business

Due to the demands for lodging in the area, this hotel was a good value, comparatively speaking. The room was clean and the bed and pillows were quite comfortable. No problem sleeping due to any outside noises. No frills and the basic amenities and a location easy enough to get to, but no restaurants near by....most were about 7 miles away.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Wall Street Bar and Grill in downtown Midland was quite a nice surprise. Great food with white linen tablecloth and bar with an old-world feel. Will return there my next visit to the area.

La Quinta Midland

Decent motel, but VERY pricey. Not worth the money. Room was clean, breakfast was OK. Staff was friendly.

A little disappointed

Usual layout for La Quinta, but the location left something to be desired. It is sandwiched in between car dealerships/repair shops, on the main loop road and across the street from railroad tracks. No sidewalks or pleasant, safe way to walk. Maid service forgot to replenish the toilet paper - I had to go to the front desk to get some. Also not replenished was the coffee maker filter holder and a package of real coffee.

North-east Midland seems to have better amenities than this south-west La Quinta location.

Fell short of chain reputation

Like the chain, but not this location, for the following reasons: 1) could (faintly) smell smoke or smoking rooms from my nonsmoking room; 2) bath towels smelled either like old human sweat or as if they'd been used in smoking rooms previously (different stink for different towels -- none smelled fresh & clean -- and towels for nonsmoking rooms should always be segregated for laundry from smoking rooms); 3) no breakfast ("ran out" in early morning -- during baseball tournament when rooms had been reserved for several weeks = poor planning); 4) carpet/upholstry in room was old, pitted & shoddy; 5) desk staff was polite (but unprepared for breakfast, as noted above); 6) I noticed a rough-looking, long-haired, tatooed male staff member taking a smoking break, smoking and chatting with a maid in the rooms while she was cleaning the same nonsmoking rooms (not good for allegedly "nonsmoking" rooms)... All in all, my family & I will try to avoid this cramped, depressing little motel location in the future.

Stuck in Midland

First the good. The front desk staff was friendly and efficient. The bed was very comfortable, the room was clean, and the water pressure was good (although you have to be a midget to stand under the shower head). Now the bad. The door handle to the room was broken and would only unlock the door if you hold the handle up and wrestle with it. The room is as basic as any motel room gets. Now the ugly. The price of this room ($199 before taxes) is usury, at best. It should not be any more than about $59. The "oil boom" is no excuse for this hotel, and all the others in town, to commit highway robbery. We will NOT be back. EVER.

Rocks Mom

Had asked for non smoking, got smoking, though it was going to be a problem, but finally got a non smoking. Had a couple fighting around midnight then again at 5 am in next room. The room was clean for the most part, but for the money being charged it should have been nicer. The so call breakfast was either boil egg or waffle. Had to go to Denny’s down the street. Just because of the oil boom the price gouging unbelievable. It seems to me the motels are the ones doing this the most, restaurants did not seem to have raised their prices that much, this the second or third one of these I have seen happen, and then they will be in a lot of hurt when it ends..

Average Hotel

The beds were nice and the hotel was clean enough. I didn't like the shower because I'm only 5'7" and was almost too tall for the shower head.
