Very disappointed. Spend a few extra $ and get a better room.

Overall, I was extremely disappointed with my stay. If I had been there more than a single night, I would have changed hotels. First? The good: The room was clean, and the hotel had an excellent location very conveniently located near the airport and major connectors. The bad: The entire facility looked old, worn, and somewhat dirty. The carpets in the hallways needed a cleaning, and it looked like it could use a fresh coat of paint. The staff was EXTREMELY slow, and seemingly uninterested in actually interacting with the guests. However, I only dealt with two staff members, so it could have just been those two. The gym (which is a requirement for me) was a joke. There were three pieces of equipment and one one was operational. That one was in a poor state of maintenance, loose and a little rusty. Basically, it looked shabby but if you mess with it long enough and have a little patience, you can get it to work. It might be a good idea to have a water jug in the (tiny... I mean TINY!) work out room. The room was extremely small for a hotel in this price range. Like I said, it was clean and relatively nice, just much smaller than I expected for the price. The shower was pretty bad as well. Yes, it was clean... But the shower head was either damaged or so heavily loaded with scale that I could only get a tiny little stream out of it. Do yourself a favor and skip this place, pay a couple of bucks extra and go to one of their competitors. If there's NOTHING else available, however, it will do.

A Mixed Bag...............

Reading the reviews, it seemed like this property had pretty good reviews for the cost but I'd rate it as "average" vs. "a very good bang for the buck". Going through the list: Location - VERY close to the south entrance of George Bush Int. Airport and Hwy. 8 (Sam Houston Tollway). Lots of planes flying overhead ranging from "not too bad" to "VERY loud.....Booming!" Staff - Average Room - Small but adequate. Bed was average/acceptable, pillows very average, TV average (about 25 channels), shower/towels average (plenty of hot water). Window was SEVERELY fogged.......seems many were. Noise - I was 2-3 rooms away from the front desk. At 11:30p.m. the phone was ringing off the hook, loud guests were arriving........not ideal. And, 1-2 doors away from the ice machine. Some knucklehead must have been filling his cooler at midnight...........3-4 trips. Pool - Jumped in the pool to cool off. Mine at home is at 76 degrees. This one easily topped 90 degrees. Hey, it was wet and relaxing.......just not cool. Breakfast - Waffle machine, muffins, toast, cereal, juice machine. Enough to fill the belly until lunch. Other Food - Enough choices for a not-too-picky bachelor to get by for two nights..........Taco Bell, Jack in the Box, Godfathers Pizza, Subway, Gyro place and a local sports bar. Full time residents - Several suspected full timers arrived to breakfast and passed through the halls during the morning. Again, decent enough for a not-too-pick bachelor on a short business trip...........but a family on vacation may want to step it up a notch (or two).

Night's sleep near the airport

I had an overnight layover, so Red Roof Inn was perfect for a night's sleep before going back to the airport the next morning. They provided prompt shuttle pick up both at and to the airport, along with free breakfast.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Since there are several other hotels near by, there were plenty of food options within a short walk. We went to the restaurant inside the Doubletree for a good dinner.

Convenient to airport and bus line

This hotel is close to Bush Airport and has a Houston express bus stop just outside, making bus transit to the airport, downtown, and all over Houston very convenient. Complimentary breakfast is very satisfying and the hotel is clean and up to date.
