The trip included attending 2 Astros baseball games at Minute Maid Park. It is accessible by walking and there are many parking options available around the ballpark. We like ease and accesible points within the hotel. Time was limited for the
weekend, getting around entailed driving to locations up to 30 minutes away. Better pre planning would have made for productive time spent going to attractions like the Zoo and the NASA space center.
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
Short drive from hotel
Plan your options in advance of traveling outside the downtown area. Get as much driving info, hours open, days open, etc. Most downtown restaurants are only open weekdays.
We went to a couple of nice restaurants, it was located in a great area of downtown houston in walking distance to everything! The hotel was awesome great friendly staff and very attentive. Definetely a must do again!
I was there for a business conference in November. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There was one issue with room service due to elevators breaking, but they sent a written apology with a fruit plate, which was very nice.
complaints were that the hotel is very noisy. Because the atrium goes up all 30 stories, and the bar is at the bottom, the noise floats up. I was on the 7th floor and could hear individual voices and bottles being thrown away. Luckily, I can sleep through anything. If you can't, you might have problems here. Or, they should give out earplugs with the room keys.
My other issue is that I wish they had a shuttle from the airport. Cab fare was $55 (with tip). Someone said something about a shuttle but that you need to reserve 24 hours in advance, which didn't help me. So they either need a shuttle or need to let guests know that they have one.
