Perfect for air travellers
I came w/ my daughter to visit family in Houston, and this was a perfect base -- easy access to airport, freeways, and anything in north/central/south Houston (west wouldn't be so bad either.) It's well outside downtown, but has everything you need in terms of comfort and services. Special props to the restaurant -- food was truly outstanding! There's a pool & fitness center, which may be great also, but we didn't use them.

Staff was very rude once they found out that I booked thru [...]. The hotel overall was dirty, walls and doors are paper thin so you can hear everything, I would not recommend, nor will I return.

As a medical student taking usmle step 2 CS, I was looking for a place that was nice as well as nice and close to the testing center. In my experience, this hotel was the nicest, closest, and best deal, a three minute walk across one busy highway intersection to the test center. The hotel was clean, quiet, decent workout facility, free Internet, and the hotel restaurant was not that bad (not great, but if you can stand to eat mediocre burgers for a couple nights, you'll get by at around 10 bucks for dinner. The only thing is that the area is known locally as "gunspoint". I would not venture outside at night on foot unless I had large friends with me, and I could imagine the walk to the testing center (short though it is) might feel unsafe for some. Personally I would definitely stay here again if I take ck in Houston. Very nice service overall in the hotel, and a good deal via [...].

Weekend stay
Great hotel and very helpful staff. Room was modern, up to date and very clean. Only thing I didn't like was the fact that NONE of the tv's, even at the bar, were High Def. Very pleasant experience.

Close Decent Hotel to Bush Houston Arpt.
This was a quick business trip to Houston and I needed a place to sleep and then catch a return flight home. This hotel fit this need and was reasonably priced.

Houston Trip
Houston is huge, so location wasn't a concern for us, we were ALL over the city. We went to Lakewood Church and saw Joel Osteen. Truly AMAZING! We drove to Galveston Beach, ate at very good restaurants. The food was good at the bar, the lounge was a treat after a long day of walking.( We came down stairs in our pajamas and sat on a couch and had a cocktail). Very relaxing here. The rooms/beds were great. Our view was on the highway, but that helped us direct a friend to visit us. The gym was great, the pool was great, the hot tub was great, the decor was great and up to date.

I am a Platinam Member......treated like a regular customer: no room upgrade; no extra free water bottles; no refrigerator; no fruit; no special 'welcome'; no discounted breadfast or free in-room wi-fi; It might has well been my first (and last) stay in that hotel. How about a free cup of coffee at the bar? "Business Center" had old, slow computers.....empty printer paper. Wait staff in the in-hotel were extremely courteous, however! Even so, I won't stay there again even though I'll be returning to Houston in 2 months. Reception staff were impersonal.

I stopped by one museum downtown and thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it: The Buffalo Soldiers National Museum. Excellent collection, photos, re-enactment, displays, history, etc.

"Ideal for Step2CK"
For all medical students wondering about Step2CK locations, Houston is great. The hotel room was well set up to study and relax the night before the exam. Hotel restaurant was expensive, but good and quick for dinner and breakfast the morning of the exam. Walking distance to the test center and a convenience store to stock up on munchies for test day. Airport shuttle made a rental car completely unnecessary which helped to keep the cost of an already pricey experience lower.
