Most of my concerns in travelling to his hotel was thier "pre auth" hold on 100$ per night and no self park, the 20$ a night ... needed to aprk your vehicle if you were driving was not optional, [...]As such I was short about $400 for my planned weekend trip because of this oversight. I don't believe I'll be staying at hotel derek again as it's nothing special and not wroth the hassle and loss of extra funds(which btw get returned 3-5 days after checkout.)

Kort Jul 26, 2009
The hotel was beautiful, but we did have a problem. When booking the hotel I made sure to ask if we could get a roll away bed ... in our room. They assured me we could. When checking into the hotel we requested the bed and was told it would be sent up. Four hours later when we never recieved the bed I called to check on it and was told if was against fire code and could not get the roll away. I understand fire code but I would of stayed at another hotel that better fit our needs if I would of known this. We were very disapointed at the way the situation was handeled.

tired makeover
jd Mar 9, 2009
I will start with the negatives. If the rooms matched up with the lobby it would have been great. However as with most of ... these makeover hotels the room itself remains a poorly disguised holiday inn and an old one at that. The hotel is very noisy from the traffic on the interstate to the guests it attracts ( I was there from Friday to Monday). The pillows are hard as rocks and between the road noise and that it makes it very hard to get a good nights sleep. The pluses are the price and location. It is a bargain hotel and its proximity to Houston shopping is great.

Nice hotel a decent price
Brian Nov 23, 2008
While I think the hotel's attempt at ultra-chic styling fell a little short. It was a nice comfortable room just a short hop ... from the Galleria. One small drawback is that being situated on the intersection of major roads you can't really walk anywhere, but the Hotel had a complimentary shuttle within 2 miles which was fantastic.

The Hotel Derek was a real deal. I was greeted by a friendly staff, and was wisked up to my room without delay. The room ... was very modern and clean, as well as spacious. The bathroom was very adequite, with a full vanity counter, with sink and mirrors. I would recommend this Hotel to any business person, as well as to any famity traveler. The location of the hotel is very central to a very large shopping mall, and is accessable to Loop I-610.

Great Location
Toni Mar 9, 2008
We found this location to be very convenient for a weekend visit. We were able to get many places quickly and easily, and ... many stores, resturants, sites and restuarants were not far away, we did not have to always get on the highway system. The Bed was comfy with the big down comforter. Only 2 DVD players available for the whole hotel, and we did not get one when we requested one upon check-in. Staff very friendly always, minus one front desk person--he needs to be in a position that does not require conversation. Would stay again.
