Cost-Efficient
I stayed at the ESA Houston-Galleria for four days in October, 2009. It is within walking distance of the Galleria mall and many other stores and businesses, as well as next door to a CVS Pharmacy that has some grocery items. It's also right on a bus route, #82, that will take you West to Wal-Mart, the HEB Supermarket, a FedEx store, and many less expensive restaurants. You can pay $1.25 (no change given) in cash to ride the bus. If you want to go to Downtown Houston, you can take bus 81 or 82, and the stop is right outside the hotel. My hotel room smelled like fried meat, but was otherwise very clean. I'm sure that the previous guest was frying meat, and in such a small space the smell sticks around. It was unpleasant for the first minute after I entered the room each time, but otherwise I didn't notice. I did use the stove, microwave, and fridge, and was so glad to have them. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. They have security guards patrolling the parking lot all night. The hotel provided soap, towels, tissue, and a packet of dish soap. You need your own shampoo. The TV only had a few channels. I think two were Showtimes, five were ESPN, plus the major networks, TNT, a Spanish-language channel, and the CW. Not that great, but I didn't come to Houston to watch TV. The wifi service is extra, but it worked, even though I wished the connection was a bit faster. There was no business center, so I couldn't print anything at the hotel and had to find a FedEx store instead. For the price and location, this hotel is a great deal.

ESA Galleria
Because of the Rodeo rooms were scarce in the low end hotels. This hotel nearly doubled its rate and people were still staying there. Overall it was good. Much better than the other reviews stated. Nice and clean, good TV, slow internet access which was not free. I would stay there again.

Convenient location at a good price
This hotel was in a convenient location for my business and for shopping. It was a few blocks from the Galleria and other shops, easy and safe walking distance to everything. Great little restaurant across the street, Le Peep, for that occasional meal out. Convenient 24hr. CVS around the corner. Hotel room was standard type room but felt more spacious than most. Kitchen was great, equipped with essentials only though.(No decaf coffee in the room!) Toilet didn't work but was fixed quickly, even though maintenance man left my door propped open long after he had gone......
