Horrible Service

The only good thing about this hotel was the location. Everything else was horrible. There were roaches in both of the rooms we rented. We rented 2 rooms, we were a group of 4 friends. The staff wouldn't give us bedding (pillows/bedsheets) because they thought we would bring our own. Who does that when you rent a hotel room? There's no restaurant or breakfast. There's no staff to help you with your bags. The check-in lady seemed annoyed about even being at her job. And, there was still food in our fridge from previous guests when we checked in.

good location, but...

Don't expect a hotel experience. they do not house-keep your room daily. you only get towel exchange at the front desk if you want.

Dining tip: Long walk from hotel

This place is located near tons of dining, but steer clear of Escalante's. I got food poisoning there.

Great location but a little shabby

Great staff. Nice, big kitchen in room w/ stovetop, full-sized fridge and sink. Great room rates, especially for the location (which is excellent). Carpet, linens, furnishings were shabby. Bathroom sink and tub were old, yellowed, and cracked. Toaster was broken. Only two clothes hangers in room. No disposable cups, pens, notepads, toiletries, or other such amenities. One must pay extra for maid service, wireless, etc. Not a problem due to the low room rates, but it would be nice to know these things going in. Not too many families or female business travelers as guests. A high number of non-professional male guests/traveling construction crews. As a single female, I would not stay here again.

hotel stay

It was nice. I was there for a week and enjoyed it. Great location and price. Smoky smell in the bathroom (and I am not a smoker), but other than that, would stay again.

Convenient location at a good price

This hotel was in a convenient location for my business and for shopping. It was a few blocks from the Galleria and other shops, easy and safe walking distance to everything. Great little restaurant across the street, Le Peep, for that occasional meal out. Convenient 24hr. CVS around the corner. Hotel room was standard type room but felt more spacious than most. Kitchen was great, equipped with essentials only though.(No decaf coffee in the room!) Toilet didn't work but was fixed quickly, even though maintenance man left my door propped open long after he had gone......

Cost-Efficient

I stayed at the ESA Houston-Galleria for four days in October, 2009. It is within walking distance of the Galleria mall and many other stores and businesses, as well as next door to a CVS Pharmacy that has some grocery items. It's also right on a bus route, #82, that will take you West to Wal-Mart, the HEB Supermarket, a FedEx store, and many less expensive restaurants. You can pay $1.25 (no change given) in cash to ride the bus. If you want to go to Downtown Houston, you can take bus 81 or 82, and the stop is right outside the hotel. My hotel room smelled like fried meat, but was otherwise very clean. I'm sure that the previous guest was frying meat, and in such a small space the smell sticks around. It was unpleasant for the first minute after I entered the room each time, but otherwise I didn't notice. I did use the stove, microwave, and fridge, and was so glad to have them. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. They have security guards patrolling the parking lot all night. The hotel provided soap, towels, tissue, and a packet of dish soap. You need your own shampoo. The TV only had a few channels. I think two were Showtimes, five were ESPN, plus the major networks, TNT, a Spanish-language channel, and the CW. Not that great, but I didn't come to Houston to watch TV. The wifi service is extra, but it worked, even though I wished the connection was a bit faster. There was no business center, so I couldn't print anything at the hotel and had to find a FedEx store instead. For the price and location, this hotel is a great deal.
