Nothing special

I stayed at this hotel for 2 reasons. I needed a hotel that had a shuttle to MD Anderson, and also wanted a kitchen so that I would not have to eat out every day during my visit. The shuttle was fine, but the kitchen was below average. The refrigerator was large enough, but it made loud noises, which competed with the noise of the air conditioning in the room. I had some difficulty getting utensils for the kitchen. There are other hotels with shuttle service that are nicer, even if maybe a little more expensive. This is a case of getting what you paid for. Also the grab to go breakfast was a joke, and one day they ran out of breakfast items alltogether.

Good deal for the price

All in all, it is a good deal for the price. The location was convenient for my needs. They could throw some fabric softener in with the sheets and towels as they were scratchy. The pillows were uncomfortable as well as they were flat and kind of lumpy.

Mother's Day Ruined

Even if you are on a budget I wouldn't stay here. Spend an extra $15 to stay in a nicer room/hotel somewhere else. Stayed with my 8 year son one night for a Mother's Day vacation for the weekend and he said it "s*Cked, we should have stayed at LaQuinta Mom?" Room too small for the price and not clean enough. No amenities...thank gosh I brought my own or they just didn't put any?...breakfast was coffee and a granola bar or an orange, lame. Poor girl at the front was alone working hard with no rooms ready an hour after check in.

sick in Houston

Check in time was 3:00PM. We arrived at the hotel after driving 3 hours from Lake Charles, LA to Houston,TX. I have epilepsy, and cannot drive. My husband has Parkinson's Disease, which is why we were in Houston, for an appointment Monday 28th, with his neurologist at UT Physicians. He can barely drive the 3 hour trip without having extreme tremors. We arrived in the hotel lobby at 2:55PM. We were told we could not check in for at least an hour and a half, because only two maids showed up for work that day. We had to find somewhere to go, with my husband having Parkinson's tremors and diskenisas, until someone from the hotel cleaned a room for us! That is totally unacceptable! I'd stay again

Clean neat, an absolutely perfect location for us. A trifle small, but no bother. Only complaint: the resident below our 2nd floor room was a smoker & our room smelled a bit, but the weather was pleasant, we opened the windows and it aired out quickly and we'll.

Break down in communication

When I arrived at about 9:45 pm. I had to wait about an hour before the clerk finished with a customer getting 4 rooms. Once I was able to inquire about my room the clerk told me she tried to contact me to let me know my reservation has been transferred to Braeswood. So this review is actually for the Braeswood location. My overall stay was good. The bed was kind of too firm but tolerable. Aside from housekeeping knocking on my door at 8 a.m. the staff was great.

Needs attention

Maintenance and management totally missing. Made to feel like I was imposing when I insisted on nonsmoking room as reserved, broken lock on first room, then missing iron, phone did not work and had to clean up bath room myself and finally water pressure was very low and the toilet was awful. Clerks apologetic but what could they do?

Not bad but not great

I have mix views about this place. SO I will say the good and bad. The good - The price was excellent. I needed a place in the Medical Center area for a morning visit to a specialist and this was a much lower cost than the surrounding hotels. The room was clean, looked good, and the property was in fairly decent shape. No signs of problems with bugs and no bad smell. The front office was helpful and friendly during check-in. The place featured a kitchenette, two-burner stove top, microwave, and full size refrig. The layour in the room was practical and functional. The WiFi worked fairly well. And, to my surprise, the room was extremely quiet. There was no noise from traffic, cars passing in front, or from people in other rooms. The bad - The rooms are small for a "suite". They are 1980 standard hotel size. Problem is it has a kitchen with dinette. So to do that in a standard size room, it had only one queen bed. I felt the bed seemed small for a queen but I have been sleeping in king size beds, so I may be wrong. The bed was a bit hard. I like my bed with a bit more cushing to it. I did sleep ok on it but it has an econolodge feel. Also, I did lift the mattress and saw the underside had a stain. That didn't make me feel good. I know the mattress cover was clean and prevents liquid from getting through, so it must have been an old matress that they turned over. The water pressure was a little low. The bath towels could have been bigger and had more substance. The kitchen sink dripped, which was noisy until I used a cloth to dampen the sound. The toilet was slow to drain at times. So what does this mean? - Despite the faults, I would stay here again for a short stay if I have to be in the area because it is in a good location, inexpensive, and clean. I would not recommend it to couples because of the small size but for solos, it is a definite step up from a simple hotel room.

Sightseeing tip: Not Applicable

The Metro is basically outside of the hotel. This is a great place for an overnight stay to see a game at Reliant or Minute Maid. Also, they do have a shuttle that can take you to the Med Center.
