Historic and Fun, but a little pricy

The staff was friendly and the drinks were strong. The location of this historic hotel is perfect for seawall activities. Considering it was built in 1911, the rooms are on the small-side of what you typically find in a modern Texas hotel, but still very livable. They've clearly upgraded the rooms with fancy programable lighting. The bath was nice and clean with both hand sprayer and rainfall shower head. Free AT&T wifi was nice, but no free HBO. Window and dresser top had greasy fingerprints on them. Some stains on the carpet, but nothing too gross. Probably not worth the $300/night I paid, but not too far off the mark.

Great location and staff

The view from the front of the hotel is fine. The Pleasure pair is off to one side if you want to see the Coney island of Texas view, or you can look straight out and see nothing but the ocean. the history of the hotel is the history of Galveston. Complete with ghosts. The staff makes you feel totally cared for. i would return here in a minute. And the Spa...WOW!!

Amazed about the price per room but...

Layed in the cool comfortalble cotton sheets but would have liked to have a comforter within reach, should I like one, so I didnt have to locate it. Valet on arrival was slow to react - in my opinion benchmarking of your competitors. First impressions set my perception of any of business within 2-3 seconds of entering that enviroment. Liked the history embedded in the stucture such as the "old postal service system" located next to the elevators but wasn't sure if it was operational or a simple relic system". It was nice! Would have liked to have been told or at least have a sign located by those bikes to let the customer know they were availiable for a fee or part of the stay. We would like to "go native" so that we had could immerse ourselves in the culture. Overall not bad but would have expected more of "Disney experience" based off your website information. jmh i
