Impressive Old Hotel
Got a great rate for a 1 night getaway from Houston. Even got upgraded to a Guif view room -- much appreciated. The Galvez is a really impressive historic building. They've recently updated many of the rooms: very comfy bed and bedding, 2 showerheads, nice fixtures. Very attractive heated pool/pool bar area with tropical landscaping and some privacy. Reasonable valet parking. The great rate probably had something to do with our stay being a Sunday night, in April, while they were re-doing much of the lobby floor and the Lobby Bar area behind curtains! We enjoyed our visit and will return.

Beautiful historic hotel
I was concerned before I booked the room due to reviews complaining about the small rooms but we were happy with everything in the hotel other than the restaurant. We had 2 adults and 3 teenage girls with a roll away bed and were comfortable. We did have perfect weather and spent minimal time inside. We ate breakfast 1 time in the hotel restaurant. It was the worst gravy we have ever tasted. We were not able to eat it and the price was ridiculous for poor tasting food.

Short walk from hotel
The bicycles made for 4 riders were so much fun. We laughed so much trying to get them across the streets. We were able to get all 5 people and 1 dog on the bike. Great workout too : )

OUR GALVESTON STAY
Hotel was very nice but not worth $300/night...BUT it WAS spring break, so not sure that any of the hotels were worth what they were charging that week. Staff was very nice, it was excellent location. For the amount we spent, I expected as many clean towels back when they cleaned room as the ones they took. We were short a couple towels. Also, they did not refill any of the soaps, shampoos, mouthwash or water we used the 2 nights we were there. Any other hotel I have stayed at gives you way more than you need and replace what you have used. The parking was included in price of room, which was great no to have to pay another $17 for parking per day like alot of hotels do. The hotel was very nice, including pool area....but we were not able to enjoy the hot tub at all during stay and pool very little due to being overcrowded. I think with the amount of rooms there should be a bigger pool or another hot tub to accomodate...but AGAIN it was spring break!!

Christmas Trip
Special Brunches and Dinners were excellent, however some maintenance problems with room. Spoke with front desk several times and eventually were moved to new room. That room also had maintenance problems, i.e. runing toilet which kept up us all night. Many things to do and see. Wish the staff was more responsive.

Pretty but not worth the money
The hotel is very pretty at the end of the seawall, not really within walking distance anywhere. Room was clean and pretty, large bed that was comfortable; But not much more room around the room. The bathroom was small and hard to move around in. Pool is nice but awkward to get to, you have to go through the lobby and past the restaurant to get to it. Business area is a couple computers on a table just past the lobby, where anyone can see what your doing. It was pretty hotel, very elegant. So unless you plan on spending a majority of your time at the hotel, Definitely not worth the price.

qtrly trip to Galveston
Staff was professional and friendly, room clean and everything was in working order. Squealing of plumbing from other rooms can be heard in the room. Entrance to each room from common hallway voices from hall easily heard in the rooms. Parking options limited to valet at $17.00 a day or the parking garage all the way across the property and across the street...this would have been ok if luggage was allowed to be loaded or unloaded prior to parking in the garage.

Beautiful Resort Hotel
It was a beautiful, old hotel that is totally modern. Rooms are a little smaller as in old hotels, but definitely large enough, and the high ceilings were so elegant. Beautiful view of the bay. Wonderful staff, great pool area, nice fitness room, and the staff was nice and very helpful.

Beautiful Hotel
This is a beautiful grand old hotel that has been updated for today. The fitness room was very nice and the pool and hot tub were beautiful with all of the palm trees and wonderful lounge chairs. The rooms on the bayside have a great view. Nice lounge.
