Thank you!!!

We were one of many staying at this hotel prior to a cruise. The Port closed due to fog and an oil spill, and we did not know if/when we would be able to leave. The wonderful people working the front desk and beyond were soooooooooo extremely helpful throughout our extended stay. They were very accommodating and when we rebook our cruise, we will definately stay at The Galveston Beach Hotel. Thank you to all the staff!!!!

First time in Galveston Beach area

Great Staff. Everyone was extremely accommodating. We had a new person checking us in who kind of struggled but the manager came right over and assisted her. Manager was always around to help if needed. Nice room with a view just as described. Great hotel pool bar! Beach is right across the road - you can lay on the beach there - not the case on all of Galveston. We didn't eat at the hotel so I can't recommend the food because there are a ton of fun, excellent, restaurants within walking distance. We will come back again!

Great Location but....

Couldn't ask for a better location but....For what we paid the pool and pool area could have been better taken care of. The rooms were clean and the beds were great but the balcony really needed cleaned. They had coffee by the desk in the morning but it was always empty. I went back three times. The first encounter with the front desk was awesome but after she was gone it was down hiil from there. Wouldn't stay again for the price!!

Very Average For $$

Upon arrival, the in-room safe was still programmed with the previous occupant's code and a light bulb was broken in the bathroom, (not the only one but still making it too dark to do makeup). These things could have been fixed easily but never got any help from front desk clerk. 2nd day-maintenance came and fixed both-less than 5 min. 3 days of no-maid service, she took tip from pillow but just made beds, left no bath towels, soap, coffee refills or cups, or Kleenex. 4th day maid service #new maid# was exceptional. Closed swimming pool to paint in middle of day (why couldn't they paint between 7-9am?). Bar service on pool side was very slow. Only bartender that served well named David. View from room was great! Only 1 chair on patio, (there were 3 of us) but very moldy, so just stood. Beds were very comfortable. Great location just needs work on service.

Way overpriced

I have stayed at better hotels for half the price. There's a bar at the pool so you can not bring any drinks to the pool area. Even my nine year old son couldn't have a bottled water and was told so as soon as he walked out there.Want to rent a movie on pay per view be ready to pay 15 bucks a pop. Half the doors that you use your room key to enter don't lock. The lot was full of trash. The staff was either clueless or jerks. When I asked to speak to a manager on duty there wasn't one and I was told to talk to the bartender. A big dissappointment

Texas Beach Vacation

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights for our Texas beach trip and we were very happy with our stay. I wouldn't really recommend it for kids but we did see families with their children there. We had a gulf view room and it was just perfect, you could see the pool and gulf from our room all in one take. The staff was super friendly and answered all our questions and if you need any travel essentials such as toothbrush, toothpaste ect. they will provide you those things at no cost. The pool was nice and had a swim up bar. The rooms were clean and the beds were really comfortable. It is just a short walk to the pleasure pier with rides and games and there are many shops and restraunts within walking distance. We went in sept which is considered the off season so the beaches and pool we pretty much had to ourselves and the weather was still geogous. The only thing is some of the attractions close during the week in sept or later and are only opended on the weekends. Overall it was a great stay and I would stay there again.

We went to the rainforest cafe which is a great restraunt to go to for kids and adults alike. Inside the restraunt is decorated to look like a rain forest and there are animatronic animals that move. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was fun and interesting to say the least.

Great location BUT...

The location is great! I can see that the hotel is making attempts to make improvements but they have a long way to go. I stayed there last year and thought the hotel has major problems with moldy smell, AC noise, and poor housekeeping. The price is too high for what you get even though the location to the beach and the view is great. This year, housekeeping is still below par. There are still repairs that need to be done. It bothered me that there was a problem with our door not locking but I appreciated the timely response to attempt to fix the problem when I called. I hope the hotel will continue to make improvements, but until then, I think I will try different hotel next year.
