Historical Hotel Experience !

Would recommend Tue, Oct 6, 2015
I grew up in El Paso and have always loved the downtown area. I don't live there now but was in town for my dad's birthday. The Camino is a great downtown historical experience and a very comfortable stay.

Very happily surprised!

Would recommend Tue, Oct 6, 2015
When I booked this hotel, I really was just interested in the location b/c I was going to a concert at Tricky Falls theater. Boy, was I surprised to see how posh this hotel was! It was well beyond my expectations! The lobby was gorgeous and the rooms were very spacious and well-appointed. This was the least expensive hotel I stayed at on this trip , However, it turned out to be the most elegant and best of any hotel I've stayed at since Nashville, Tenn. in 2013. Kudos to the staff, etc. for making this a most pleasant experience.

El Paso weekend

Would recommend Tue, Sep 29, 2015
A friend and I were in El Paso for a wedding and thought the price for the Camino Real was great. Location is terrific and there were many events happening in the area during our stay. Good bars and restaurants, too. The hotel is an old hotel and is in need of improvements. The wall paper in the bathroom was peeling back at the corner and the biggest problem was that the the toilet would not flush. A service staff person plunged it and the problem was corrected but seemed to be reoccurring when I left. Also, the public restrooms beside the front desk had the same problem. My room was supposed to be cleaned after my first night but when we returned at about 4 after a day out the maid had only begun to clean the room and I was rushed to clean up for the wedding. The maid actually told me that she had to finish the room because it was her last and then she was to finish her day of work. Understandable, but I told her to please send someone else as I was rushed. Her thinking seemed to be that I was there at her service. Knowing this would not be acceptable to her I told her to go ahead and clean and I would shower meanwhile. She left saying she would send someone else. The room was never cleaned. The front desk staff was efficient albeit snippy and officious. Perhaps, they thought we should be honored to be staying at THE Camino Real. Regardless, our stay (my friend had a separate room she she said was noisy, mine was not) was good and with reservations (no pun intended) I would recommend the hotel.

Camino Real Overnight Stay

Would not recommend Tue, Aug 18, 2015
Upon approaching the front desk the two young ladies at the front were preoccupied with a conversation regarding relationship issues one was having and the parking attendant was no where to be found to allow for entrance into the parking garage my husband exited our vehicle and moved the cone to enter the garage once back in the vehicle out of nowhere the parking attendant runs up to the vehicle and advises we are not authorized to enter as the garage is only for Camino Real guests at which point we show him our room key to which he says oh okay and moves out of the way so we can enter the parking garage. Window sills in the room were full of dust as if they hadn't been cleaned in a while because no has bothered to open the curtains, the tub did not drain properly so when we took showers we ended up in standing water and the television remote was not working. If the only need would of been a comfortable bed then the hotel met the criteria otherwise was disappointed in how we were greeted or not greeted I should say and the unfortunate lack of maintenance in the bathroom and housekeeping in the room.

Weekend Getaway

Would recommend Tue, Jul 21, 2015
Staff are really friendly, polite and professional. We stayed for two nights and had different rooms each night. First room was a king room with lovely view. Second was a queen and was clean but I think due to the building being old, we heard the toilet system every time someone flushed which was loud and annoying throughout the night. We did room service and the food wasn't was we had asked for and wasn't very good. In both rooms we didn't have a fridge. Bottle water was available in the vending machine but they had sold out so we had to go to the store and buy our own. Second evening we sat at the Dome bar and they had live music. The singer was very good but the music seemed to be very outdated. All in all, the hotel was beautiful, great location, clean rooms and lovely staff.

Good place to stay if it's only for a night

Would recommend Tue, Jul 21, 2015
This hotel was a good place to stay if your in town for only a night. It's a very old building. The rooms are clean and quiet. The mattress isn't very comfortable. You can feel the some of the springs when you rotate to another sleeping position. The wall outlet they had available for plugging chargers into was hanging out of the wall. The staff were very nice, although when we asked them generalized questions about the hotel check in/check out details they weren't very knowledgeable.
