The Fairmont Dallas is part of the Fairmont Hotels & Resorts brand, a name synonymous with classic luxury and time-honored tradition. Opened in 1969, the hotel is widely considered one of the original luxury resorts in the Dallas area. Guests can visit the rooftop to chill by the pool beneath the bright Texas sky. In the evenings, the Pyramid Restaurant & Bar offers alternative dining - straying from typical Texan fare, dishes like the pressed octopus, Berkshire pork belly, and kaffir & chili crusted ostrich are exotic changes from the traditional steak and barbecue.

Neighborhood

There's also The Klyde Warren Park and Perot Museum of Nature & Science - both a short stroll from the Dallas Arts District.

Fairmont was fair

So the hotel was nice and the room was average, which was unfortunate because the hotel claims to be very nice. I would say the room was close to a room ata Hampton Inn. Also, the room never really got cool, could be the 109 temps outside or just poor ac.

Mixed review

Not as nice as any other Fairmont we've seen We were not allowed to check out before we got our luggage out of our room, then when we returned after breakfast there was a 25 minute wait and only one employee at the front desk. Front desk manager was not helpful nor was she at all concerned. Consequently, we had to rush to get to the airport

Just OK

Bathtub was stained and dirty, when asked for it to be cleaned, I was told stains can't be removed and there wasn't much they could do; all clean lady did was spray some desinfectant (after my request). Bed and pillows were comfy. This is supposedly a luxury hotel but it was just OK. They charge for mandatory valet parking ($22), for local calls (56 cents/each) and internet service ($15/day). For this "value" I would go to a different hotel next time.

Beware of High Fees

The hotel is nice and if money is not an issue this is a good hotel in a central location to everything. If you are traveling on a budget however, be aware that your cost to stay in the hotel is where it starts. Expect to pay high fees to park and enjoy any of the services that the hotel has to offer, including Internet. I wish I had called the hotel in advance to ask about fees and services before I booked the room. Also, there is a coffee franchise located in the hotel but there is only one restaurant and it's expensive. The room service staff was excellent though so if you need anything they are very willing to please. The desk staff however are not as friendly but they are not rude.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

This hotel is in the Arts District so if museums, the symphony, and a world-class aquarium appeal to you this is the place to be. They are all either a few blocks away or a short drive down the street.

below average fairmont

I usually love staying at the Fairmont. This one wasn't bad, per se, especially with the package price from [...], however this particular Fairmont is very old and could use some updating in the bathrooms. Old tub and showerhead. Also, the TV didn't work. They sent a repairman very quickly when I first requested it. However, the next morning, the TV didn't work again. I think (hope) I just got a bad room. My colleague didn't have the same issues with the TV.

Good but not Great

Selected this based on the stars rating, and it was a nice hotel but dated. Staff was good, valet service was excellent. Selected the King Suite which was nice, but the furniture was old and uncomfortable, and the shower, and bathroom area were terrible compared to hotels that are rated in this class.

Fairmont is just Fair...

The location was great. My husband and I took a romantic walk to Dallas's West End Distric to have a great dinner at one of the many restaurants and bars in the area. The hotel staff was friendly and willing to meet our needs. However the rooms were mediocre in decor and design, the AC didn't work well making for uncomfortable temperature and twice during the night I was roused from sleep because of hall noise. Overall this was a deal for the price paid.

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

West End was a great place for dinner and drinks. TONS of sushi bars to chose from- great music and a comedy club all within 5 blocks. It was easy and safe to walk from hotel (we didn't have to get our car out of valet)
