The Renaissance Hotel Dallas is well known for its award-winning, Dahl Braden Chapman-designed architecture.  The hotel's unique elliptical shape and diagonal roofline provide the perfect screening for the open-air rooftop pool, which is one of the highest in Dallas. Inside the skyscraper, luxurious guest rooms offer a great vantage point across the skyline, and visitors can work up an appetite on cutting-edge fitness equipment or in the sauna facilities at the hotel's 24-hour health club. Celebrity chef Dean Max cooks up Latin-influenced American fare at the Renaissance restaurant.
Key facts
  • 484 guestrooms and 30 suites

Neighborhood
The Renaissance is centrally located in Dallas Market Center, where the West End Entertainment District and Downtown Dallas are just steps away. For a history lesson, visit the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealy Plaza, or chill out by catching a ball game or a concert at the American Airlines Center. For those with an interest in the animal kingdom both on land and underwater, the Dallas Zoo and World Aquarium are both within easy reach of The Renaissance.
Hints and tips
Staying in an even-numbered room on a high floor gives you the best possible views over the Dallas skyline. Because of the shape of the hotel, rooms in the middle tend to be larger, but those on the ends have easier and quicker access to the leisure facilities.

Horrible experience

Hotel staff was asked on Sunday morning at 1000am to change out linens. At 1300 the room had not been cleaned. Called the front desk and asked that the room be turned. Retreated to hotel lobby. Upon return to hotel room at 1530 it remained unclean. Called and spoke with hotel manager. Room was not cleaned till 1700 that evening. Was extremely poor service. Will never return to the hotel

beware

When we arrived at this hotel to check in, they informed us that they had overbooked for the night and we did not have a room. I had made the reservation five days prior and had a confirmation number as well. Just because you have a reservation doesn't mean you have a room here.

Cheer competition

First of all I booked the hotel back in September 2011 and requested 2 double beds. We called several times prior to checking in and then was told, "We have no double beds". The cheer competition booked up all of these rooms prior to your reservation.... Not sure I believe that. Also there are very few bell men ready to assist you. We had to load and unload our own luggage. Not sure they were prepared for the crowd they got.

Bad experience with non professional staff

I had a big problem with room airconditioner. Heater did not work, and temp was under 70 degrees overnight, resulting in common cold in my baby. When I explained situation, manager offered me 50$ to cover the problem. Can you I gained what was my feeling. Unbelievable.

Needs updating

Exterior and lobby set an expectation that the room did not meet. The bathroom needed updating. Nothing luxurious or even clean.

[...]

While the hotel is a nice property, it is under major renovation and parking was an issue, no gift shop, concierage stand combined with the bellman's stand, temporary front desk on the second floor, etc. [...]and it sounded like according to the hotel, we weren't the only one with that complaint. This is a major construction project and has been going on for a while and will continue for some time.

to much for to little

I found the hotel to be a little over priced, also it bothered me i payed in advance and when i arrive i had to pay a 14$ parking fee for parking my own car in a side lot and caring my own bags in. given there was a valet option for 23$ but for the average joe looking for a get away night the little fees and extras tend to bother me. also no free WIFI?!? come on. last thing shower was either burning hot or cold no middle confort. not a bad hotel just over priced for what you get.

"Hotel was very convenient to freeways and airport. (Lovefield Airport), Hotel was very nice, contemporary feeling, rooms were very nice with comfy beds..The only draw back were the thin walls, could hear everything from my neighbors..too bad! I would not go back.."couldn't sleep, I had to call security to shut them up..."

Mixed Emotions

The hotel was very attractive, the room very nice, the staff were very helpful and courteous, but it seemed that I was one of a small number of people staying there. There was little to do that was within walking distance, so downtown center locations might be more desireable. Dining was marginal at best. The menu was varied but unexciting. The attempt was to combine snacks and fine dining into one location and it was not very successful. To make things worse, although my room was paid for before I arrived, my credit card was overcharged and I'm still waiting for correction. Too many other choices to do that again.
