thieving valet?

In town for a concert. The parking garage was not labled as the hotel's, so after driving around the hotel 5 times we found the valet spot so we decided to stop and then found that it was just across the street but did not have anything to identfy it with the hotel. After coming back down from out room to catch the shuttle we caught the valet with my keys and CD case in his hand...which I had npt asked for him to get. Notified hotel but it was dismissed as a misunderstanding. Had a used bandaid left in the shower. Overall just not a good experience.

won't be back

big gaps in hotel door at floor, could hear everything going on outside my room and in other rooms, no overhead lighting, 60 watt light bulbs in lamps, hard to read or work, wood floors were sticky, didn't feel comfortable walking outside the hotel at night - prettty seedy neighborhood.

All went well

I was in Dallas for a conference held at another hotel. The lower cost and proximity to the other hotel made the Orbtiz package attractive. The Orbitz "distance from" feature was useful for making my choice of hotel. It also influenced my decision to use Orbitz. I am a seasoned traveler and found the hotel to be completely up to the standard I expected. The staff was pleasant and I received timely, no-charge rides to and from the conference location. That simple service protected some of my Orbitz savings from being reduced by taxi fares.

Good Service, bad Locks

Good customer service at the front desk. Always greeted us when coming and leaving. Failed to fix the problem with the room keys repeatedly failing. Room Keys failed twice in one day. Hotel phone on the floor level did not work for the entire 4 day stay. Door lock was reset by management once, but still failed twice after that.

Located in the downtown area of Dallas, 3 block to the major Sheraton convention center. Room rates much less than the Sheraton.

Not bad

The hotel was quaint, but dressed in loud colors. The room was quite small and the food at the restaurant very mediocre. The staff was nice, although the "concierge", if you would even call them that, was not that helpful. Overall the hotel was clean and neat, staff nice enough, and a decent price for downtown Dallas I guess. Fortunately, I was in town for business and therefore did not spend much time in the room, otherwise I would have gone stir crazy with it's small size. If you just need a clean room to sleep in, then not a bad choice. If your looking for more, you will probably have to choose somewhere else and pay more.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Lots of small cafes and a couple of nicer restaurants nearby, but it seems a lot of the dining establishments near by are a bit touristy.

Great Hotel, Bad Location

The hotel was great! It looks like something out of a magazine. The service was great & the rooms were a nice size. The bad thing is that this hotel is located right across from a bus station so you hear buses running all night. The walls are paper thin & I could hear the people next door talking, their phone ringing, etc. Also, it costs $20 to park at the hotel unless you park across the street and walk quite a ways. The hotel was precious, just in a bad location.

Eclectic and charming

Interesting hotel - nicely remodeled, with a very comfortable bed. I had a great experience with the desk staff. Check in was a breeze and the staff was attentive to a small problem with a broken iron. The driver was very professional and served as a tour guide on the way to our destination. It's on the east side of town, making it convenient to Deep Ellum and the Majestic, but with the courtesy van, the West End and Uptown were easy trips too. One note: If you expect a view, ask for a room on an upper floor. The lower floors offer only the garage across the street.

Elm Street garage is across the street from the front door and only $5 a night on the weekends; forgo the $20 valet and park in the garage.

Excellent location and historic charm!

Excellent location for walking in the west end and attending a show, at either the Majestic Theater or house of blues. Free service Shuttle was timely and staff were eager to make the stay pleasant. Would stay again for a weekend getaway!
