Dallas Work Trip

Would not recommend Wed, May 20, 2015
The photos of the hotel don't represent the hotel very accurately. It is an original Dallas hotel and it definitely looks it. They are apparently starting renovations to update the look but I do not know when that will be complete. The price is a little misleading as it doesn't include all the services you will pay for each day you are staying (i.e. wifi, valet, etc.) In person the staff was wonderful and very helpful and the location was very nice. The coffee shop (Weekend) next door is one of the best i have ever visited.

A beautiful old-line hotel. No as special as it was during its golden age, but still a very nice experience.

Don't Do It.....! Look Elsewhere....

Would not recommend Tue, Dec 16, 2014
I am sorry to say, but this hotel leaves a lot to be desired. It is obvious that management is not detail-oriented and that they either don't have experience running a nicer hotel or they just don't care. The rooms are dated, lamps are crooked, bathtubs are far from luxurious and have stained tiles and mold. The furnishings and overall feel of the hotel are long overdue for a revamp. There are crates with glasses stacked next to the bar and many other careless flaws that detract from the experience. I love the architecture and the old elevators, it has potential, but in the current hands it sadly is lacking. There are far better options for your dollar. Come on management - get with the program and up your game here. Your customers and employees deserve better.

Quaint escape

Would recommend Mon, Nov 24, 2014
This hotel has a lot of history & it's in a great location. I've never been in elevators like theirs. The beautiful chandelier at the entrance is a nice historic touch. Overall, it's a unique hotel at a good value in the heart of the downtown!

Adolphus Elegance!

Would recommend Mon, Nov 3, 2014
We absolutely loved everything about the Adolphus in downtown Dallas! From the moment we pulled up at the valet, through check-in/out, everything was true perfect elegance. The entire hotel staff we encountered were professional and extremely courteous with a smile! Our room was simply breathtaking, old world charm, comfortable, and very spacious! We truly loved everything, and we will be back!

Dining

Absolutely LOVE the Iron Cactus, just a block or so from the Adolphus! We sat outside on the third floor, with a view of the park and amazing night lights. Fabulous food, margaritas, and atmosphere!

An oasis in downtown

Would recommend Fri, Oct 17, 2014
The public areas are superb ...the staff are wonderful...the view from my 21st floor room was excellent...however, their were no towels at all in the room...I had to call for them...also there was no waste basket in the bathroom...and there were unsightly stains on the couch...I chose this hotel for it's proximity to Dealy Plaza, which I toured...

Romantic getaway

Would recommend Mon, Sep 15, 2014
We had a lovely experience at this hotel. My husband and I spent the night to celebrate our anniversary. The room was quaint but beautiful. We didn't have much of a view of the city which was a lil bit of a downer. A few areas needs a paint makeover. The bed was very comfortable. We took several baths since we had awesome hot water. The disappointment came when we went to get our leftovers from the mini fridge the next day. The refrigerator didn't work properly so the food spoiled. Great history retold in the lobby of the hotel and previous tenants.

Dallas Classic

Would recommend Sun, May 18, 2014
The hotel is a Dallas classic old Lady. Great location close to Main St. and many excellent restaurants as well as shopping and attractions. The Lobby is full of dark wood, classic furniture as well as greenery. Rooms are updated, comfortable with classic features like crown molding, granite in the bathrooms and large windows. Upper floors have a minimum of street noise. Rooms are very large; mine was a bit smaller, but was a corner room with windows on both sides. Staff are friendly. Now for a few negatives; First, the lighting in the bathroom was terrible; very low light from small bulbs in fixtures either side of the mirror. Was a bit challenging to shave, let alone attempt to put on makeup. Second, for some reason, no waist basket provided anywhere in the room. First day, I took a plastic shopping bag and hung it off the bathroom sink for trash. The house cleaner dutifully emptied the trash bag every day and put it back in place!! There was a small fridge in the room and a small digital safe, but no in-room servi-bar, if that is important to you. Decent 40 inch flat screen TV with movies and usual cable. I am told the hotel, which is over 100 years old is due for a big update, but honestly the rooms and public areas are just fine now Rate on this site was very good and competitive to rates at some of the big name national chain hotels that are within 6-7 blocks.

Money saver

This hotel is a short walk from the Dallas light rail. A cab from DFW is about $55. Airport shuttle is about $18. You can, however walk over to the light rail about 2 blocks away, take that to the TRE rail to Central stop, half way to Ft. Worth, then take a bus from the rail stop to the south side DFW remote parking. Change bus for the terminal bus which stops at all terminals. I know that sounds complicated, but if you are traveling light, you can do the entire trip with very little walking and for $2.50 or $5.00 total, depending on time of day. There are reduced trains on Saturday, and none on Sunday. I managed to make the trip in under 1 hour and for $2.50 on a Saturday. Check the on-line schedule.

Beautiful hotel

Would recommend Wed, Nov 13, 2013
From the start, the staff was helpful, attentive, patient, and just really pleasant. The hotel itself has so much charm and it feels incredibly rich. Our room was nice; the bathroom was great. Plenty of room for a group of girls to get ready for a night on the town. I will definitely be back and I recommend the Adolphus!
