Knights Inn And Suites Canyon TX

This was the worst hotel ever. The pool was empty. The room was dirty, there was a big black hair in the bathtup when we got there. We were there for a memorial service at Palo Duro Canyon where my brother was scattering his wife's ashes in the Canyon. We spent the entire day and most of the evening at the Canyon that day. We were very hot and tired by the end of a very emotional day. We were looking forward to a nice hot shower, air conditioning and something cold to drink. When we got to the room the air conditioner had been turned off and the refrigerator had been turned off. We were hot and uncomfortable and had nothing cold to drink. We also had to throw away the food that we had in the refrigerator because it was spoiled.

reserved a "suite", got a large room with 2 q's & 1 twin. The twin was acceptable, the single room as a suite was not. There had apparentle been NO, repeat NO, maintenance done in the hotel or the room in months or years. window and door insultion was falling out, bed frames were coming off of wooden (plywood) bases with metal brackets sticking out to snag the unwary. The vanity was built for midgets, not full size adults. The bath room was TINY! the tub was smaller than standard; the shower, therefore, was also too small for a full size person to turn around in. There were no doors between the room proper and the vanity/bathroom and no door on the closet.The lady who checked us in could barely speak English, we had to repeat every thing several times to make her understand what we were saying. [...] The "breakfast was coffee and cereal. They were out of bread for toast.The one bright spot was that every thing was clean.[...]

We arrived at the motel after a grueling 8 hour drive from San Antonio. We got there around 11 PM. The owner was waiting for us and check in was a breeze. I was disappointed with the room because the sign out side said the place had been recently remodeled, however the décor was more of miss-matched 70's than anything else. I was awaked early the next morning by the sound of drums, which turned out to be the high school marching band practicing. I didn't realize that the motel is directly across the street from the high school. The room had a coffee pot, but no coffee or filters or cream or sugar. The continental breakfast consisted of bread and a toaster or dry cereal (I think they had frosted flakes and Cheerios in Tupperware containers). My husband told me that while I was in the shower (which didn't work so I had to take a bath); the owner knocked on the front door once then proceeded to let himself into the room. Good thing hubby was there to block the door!!! Turns out the main building experienced a broken water pipe and the water was turned off explaining why our room was in the "not-yet-remodeled" section. Not the best motel experience ever, but I can't really complain considering the price we paid for the room. I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and excuse the water pipe problem and give them another chance my next trip to Canyon.
