Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites CANYON

While the room itself was fine, it was on the 2nd floor and looked directly at the heating and air-conditioning units mounted on the roof of the pool room below. The beautiful TX sunsets we heard so much about were completely blocked. We asked to change rooms but were told the hotel was full. The next day I heard a gentleman check out but we were not offered that room. I felt we should have been given the available room over the next guest as we had expressed our dissatisfaction and nothing was done. Also on that 2nd day 3 bus loads of student athletes arrived, so the hotel was not full when we made our request. Even though I am sure they had reservations, they had not arrived before we requested a change. I feel the hotel should have accommodated our request before accommodating later arriving guests who had not even checked in yet.

My trip was to visit Palo Duro Canyon, and the location of this hotel couldn't have been better for that purpose. EASY trip to the canyon! The staff was knowledgeable and very helpful, going out of their way to make sure guests were comfortable. One small maintenance item I reported...and 5 minutes later, the maintenance crew was there to fix it. Breakfast was free, quite good, and there were many choices. Complimentary newspapers in the lobby in the morning; fresh cookies in the afternoon. Bedding was very comfortable. VERY positive experience! P.S. The Palo Duro Canyon is beautiful

Great breakfast! Everything was good, except the swimming pool. Way too cold. The hot tub was just right. Heat up the swimming pool and you will have a winner!

I greatly enjoyed the peace and quiet of the room, and the bed & bedding gave me a great night's sleep. I never heard a sound if anyone was in the rooms next to mine other than a little bit in the hallway. The staff was generally pleasant and helpful. I didn't make a fuss about the negatives so don't know if they'd have switched rooms or even if the other rooms had the items. I booked through an online travel site, so perhaps I missed something in the description of the room, but was disappointed that for the price there was no refrigerator, no microwave, the wireless internet connection was poor, and when I sought ice for my restaurant leftovers which I brought back before realizing no amenities, I had to go to the first floor because there were no machines on the 2nd or 3rd floor (I was on the 3rd). I saw reference to pool towels, but never saw where the pool was. The TV was big, clunky and reflected light. The week before, I'd stayed at an HIExpress in Lodi, CA and had all the amenities and a flat-screen for only a few $$ higher. I still give this a 4* but would say a very low 4*.

The check-in was fast and easy. We decided not to try the pool because it was small and already crowded. The room was larger than usual and the bed was really comfortable. The lobby was very nice and the hotel was also very clean.

Everything was clean. The hotel is well located in Canyon. All of the staff was very friendly and quick to help us with everything. The whole hotel is totally smoke-free!!!!!The breakfast was large and a wonderful, friendly lady made sure that there was plenty of food and that the whole serving area and tables were kept clean.I would recommend staying there.
