Hourly?

I've stayed at a lot of hotels, some nice, some not so nice. There was not a bottle of shampoo, there was a foil packet that looked like it should hold ketchup. It was a pea sized piece of soap. The room was musty, and the A/C sounded like a 747 low on oil.

Perfect value for South Padre Island

We stayed at the palace motel for our 2011 memorial day visit. Other hotels at South padre island were way too expensive. Yes, the hotel is a 25 minute drive to the island but the convenience it provides for the value was unbeatable. The rooms were clean, the beds were clean, the hotel was not noisy, standard breakfast fare. Lots of fast food places within walking distance. Walmart is 2 minutes away. Did not try the pool. Felt safe parking the cars. Not much to do or see around the hotel itself, but since it is right on the highway to south padre islands everything was just a hop away. Will definitely stay here again, if nothing else just for the value it provides. No point spending near 100 a night at the island when you can stay here for 1/2 the price!

Good hotel for the price

Good, clean hotel. Great location, next to everything and not a bad drive to the beach. Nice family owns the hotel. We needed an additional towel, asked for it, got it, no problem. The one employee that I met was less than friendly, but the owners were great, especially considering we got in to town at 3:30am! This is where we'll stay next time we come to town. They do not accept pets.

Better than first impression

I was a little unsure at first glance, but the motel provided us with a great stay. It's a bit older but the bed was the best so far on our road trip. It was surprisingly quiet and the staff helpful. There was WiFi available and the other amenities were adequate.

Disgusting !!!

I was in a rush and made a reservation here, I didn't take the time to look for reviews and/or pictures, so I guess it was my fault! I just saw it was 3 star hotel and very close to airport. We got here after a wedding in Matamoros around 2 am, it already looked bad from the outside. They didn't have the kind of room we made reservations for, king single so after dealing with front desk guy he said he would put us in a king suite with a jacuzzi.. well it was nasty, everything was.. the toilet was not clean, they even had dark color towels and that to me just means it's easier to hide how clean/dirty towls are... there were small hairs all over the bed as well, needless to say I take this is the kind of hotel that looks like they charge by the hour. We were really tired but I was not willing to sleep there. We left and stayed at the courtyard over by the mall. I should have done that to begin with. It was a HORRIBLE experience and would not recommend anyone to stay here.. if you need something cheap I would even say a red roof inn is 100 times better than this motel.

Worst hotel stay I have had.

I went to South Padre Island, Texas for a Spring Break Trip with my friends on Wendsday March 17,2010. We attend college in Oklahoma, twelve hours away from the the Island. As we got closer to the island, I called the Palace Inn Motel numerous times for directions. I spoke with [...], who was obviously not familiar with the area. He gave us the wrong directions, and it took us almost an hour to find the hotel. The first night of our stay 3/17/10, I told [...] we would only be staying until Friday 3/19/10, and I asked him if I would have to pay for saturday eventhough we wouldn't be staying. He told me no and told me the new price we would have to pay which was around $130. After checking in, and getting food when I closed the door, I assumed the door auto-matically locked. To my surprise, in the middle of the night around 5 am we heard our door handle jiggle. I had to constantly slam the door to get it to stay shut, and locked. There wasn't a second lock for security we could have used, because he told me the painters took it off and never put them back on. That morning I went to complain about the door,a blown out bathroom light, and our fan not working,he said, "well why didnt you come last night and tell me, I cant give you a refund" I had no idea who was outside our door, and didn't want to put myself in danger. When I go into the office to get towels, he has an attitude and says, "there should already be towels in your room." I state to him that the maides took our old towels and only put one new face, and bath towel in the bathroom. Upon our check out at 11:30 am on 3/19/10, [...] stated, "I have some bad news, you will have to pay for tonight and tomorrow night, 3/19 and 3/20." So imediatly I ask why [...] After arguing with [...] and calling agents for an hour, I payed the money so we could leave, he and another employee, a young male, go to the room we have just checked out of and says, there is nothing wrong with this room yall are just too stupid to flip the sqwich. One of the passengers exchange words with [...], and he flips his middle finger at us. This was by far the worst hotel/motel stay and customer service I have ever experienced. I will never stay here or at another Palace Inn again. Tyesha Lacy
