Brownsville, Texas, budget hotel with pool and free shuttle

Best Brownsville Hotel to stay
We travel to Brownsville often for business and this is the first time we stayed at Courtyard and we will continue to stay there. I didn't realize that they served dinner and also had a "Happy Hour". Both breakfast and dinner were fine. The bathroom was larger than most and wireless worked perfectly. The location is perfect for going into Matamoros, the mall, many other resturants and back to airport.

Limited Restaurant Hours
I arrived on a Sunday evening expecting to have a meal in the hotel, as I chose this hotel because it had a restaurant and lounge. The restaurant/lounge are only open Monday-Thursday. All was not lost as the very helpful staff drove me to and from a good steakhouse across the highway. Also, had a pretty good breakfast buffet on site the next morning.

Texas Roadhouse across the highway. You can see it but can't safely walk there. Good food, great staff and peanut shells on the floor.

bed bugs
the staff was somewhat nice, but confused. the room looked clean until my wife climbed into bed and then started itching everywhere. we noticed she had a rash on her lower back and stomach area. we contacted front desk and they looked lost, and told us they couldn't do anything about it. i asked them for clean sheats and they gave them to us. my wife took a shower and replaced the sheets. no more itching after that. i know there was bed bugs on those sheets. GROSS> oh yeah, there was no parking available so i had to park at another hotel. Last but not least, they told us we did not have free breakfast, [...]

Short drive from hotel
gladys porter zoo was great. animals are close, but don't go during summer. it was so hot, go during fall and after 2pm. same goes for schlitterbahn, sooooo hottt. go from 3-closing time, it's alot cheaper.
