poor quality for a 3 star hotel
We have been to Austin several times at many different hotels. The Wyndham Garden Hotel was good from the location (10 minutes to downtow) but it was not very clean and the service was very basic. There are much better hotels in the area for the same price.

Location Was the Only Negative
I was shocked at the value I got for my dollar. We had a room with a patio that walked straght out to the pool and gym area. It was a full sweet which had not even requested when I booked the room and it was huge. The staff was really friendly. Really the location was my only complaint. It is not on any bus routes and it is a little far to cab it

A weekend in Austin
Upon arriving at the hotel I was nothing but impressed. There was a shuttle to and from the airport and the staff was very helpful and friendly the entire trip. The room was very clean and very luxurious for the price. I was impressed to see a full bar and restaurant on site, however I did not have a chance to try it out. The only complaint was that the hotel was not closer to downtown, but this was my fault as I should have done more research. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and family.

Take a pedi cab if you can! Great way to see downtown Austin and help support a starving student! LOL The one we found was paid only in tips and had some great insider knowledge of local bars and attractions.

Expensive for What It Is
Paper thin walls ( I could hear the people next door speaking conversationally until 1 in the morning) & rock hard pillows did not put this hotel on the top of my comfortable place to stay in Austin. In addition, a bowl of oatmeal & coffee was $9. Next time, I'll head back to The Consuelo next door.

Excellent for our national meeting
I stayed at this hotel as a part of a national meeting. We regularly meet some place more or less in the middle of the country, and this time we were here. This was a great hotel for this event. Certainly, it was one of the best values of any of the places we've stayed at so far. The food at the restaurant was excellent for a hotel and for its price, and the rest (as asked for in the ratings above) were between very good and excellent. I would definitely recommend that we come again to this hotel again for a similar meeting.

Dining tip:
Long walk from hotel
It's one mile / 20 minute walk to the Catfish Parlor. While the walk is, at best, not scenic (highway frontage road mostly), the Catfish Parlor was worth the effort. And then you have the walk back, all the better to work off those fried fish, hush puppies, and all the other sides.

Clean and Convenient
Hotel was conveniently located and very clean, but no amenities except airport shuttle. Shower water temperature was difficult to control - went back and forth from very hot to freezing cold everytime I took a shower.
