Decent hotel

I only stayed there one night, but the room and staff were nice. There was an extensive free breakfast, although the dining room was very crowded. The hotel is at a big freeway exchange, but I didn't hear any traffic from my room.

Interesting location

Yes, getting into and out of here, but the rooms are comfortable, the staff is very friendly and the free breakfast is great. It meets all my minor expectations of a "good" hotel...comfortable bed, hot water, & working TV. It's worth the effort.

Pretty good for the price

Room was fine. Bathroom was very small. Decent complementary breakfast. Hotel is very close to a convergence of multiple freeways but couldn't hear traffic from my room.

A workable solution

The location of this hotel is unfortunate as it literally sits under a flying freeway ramp, so getting in and out of the property (at the intersection of two one-way access roads) can be a nuisance. Also, this part of Austin seems to be experiencing some decline as the shopping area across the freeway has many empty spaces. On the bright side, the breakfast is really good, and the room was comfortable and clean. If you don't mind an out-of-the-way location, then this hotel might be a good value.

great overall experience

My ONLY real complaint about Ramada Austin-Central is that the Wi-Fi was a little slow. That may have been due to the busy week they had. A lot of school groups were in & out. The gree breakfast was delicious, although it could use a little more variety. I was a little bummed about their policy of not taking breakfast to your room.

Pretty average

The hotel was conveniently located near highways and not a far drive from downtown. The rooms were average- both clean and comfortable- but nothing that stands out. The staff was friendly but not noticeably helpful or customer service oriented (which we found typical in Texas). The highlight was that they offer drinks in the lobby during the week and they offer wonderfully buttery biscuits at breakfast! It was a great hotel for my first time to Austin but next time I'd spend the money to stay downtown.

OK. Basic amenities, Clean rooms, lots of kids on a budget

I didn't expect anything special and I wasn't disappointed. Back of the property was completely fenced in giving the impression and there must have been problems with thievery in cars. Staff was professional, but check in seemed like an interrogation .. to make sure I was who I said I was, that I'd abide by the house rules OR ELSE, and that excessive noise would result in expulsion. Staff did abide by my request regarding room location. But sure enough when we got to our floor our room was surrounded by rooms full of college students ready to PARTY! Same old stuff ... guys trying to impress the girls, pounding on doors and walls, and being boisterous. Luckily once 7 pm rolled around they all left, presumably to 6th Street. They returned both nights about 3 am but were only loud for a few minutes before things got back to normal. Conclusion: If you go to a lower end hotel, keep your expectations minimal and be a little patient - you won't be showered with the best, but then again you won't be disappointed. In my case the next best hotel rate would have cost another $60 for 2 nights and there's no guarantee it would have been any better. Under those circumstances I'd probably stay here again.

During most of the day (8 am - 7 pm), use a map to take streets to get around town and avoid the highways.

Disgusting!!!

My husband and I had to stay here for two days, as soon as we checked in it set the mood for our stay. The women at the front desk was not friendly and said that they charge per adult in the room so on top of what I already paid for the room we got charged $10.00 a night for my husband also being in the room which is ridiculous and did not see anywhere during our booking that they did this. So once we got up to our room I wanted to leave immediately, the room was disgusting and looked like a hotel room you would see in the 80's completely outdated. Our air conditioner didn't work the vent was blowing out hot air and the tub drain was plugged so while taking a shower the water came up to my ankles. I called the booking site to see if we could cancel our stay, but when she called the front desk of the hotel they said they would not allow us to cancel our reservations. So we then called to ask to be moved to a different room because it felt like a sauna in our room. The guy was rude but finally agreed to move us to another room. It wasn't much of a difference, the room was absolutely disgusting I felt like I was gonna get some kind of disease just by sitting on the bed. The walls had stains on the wall that looked like blood, the carpet had dark stains all over it. And we found 2 large spiders in the room. The only plus was the nightly reception which they served you alcohol ( which is probably so you get drunk and won't realize how disgusting your room is) and the breakfast was good. That's the only positive I can say about this hotel. Also the location is in a pretty run down area, but it is right by the highway to get to downtown Austin. We would never stay here again or refer anyone to stay here.
