Dangerous Neighborhood!
I did not realize how dangerous a neighborhood this hotel was in, until- arriving after dark - I found one of the driveways blocked by anti-terrorist concrete bunkers. I frankly feared for my life at this point. Was I to be accosted by drive-by shooters? Looters? Muggers? Car-jackers? Barely making it into the hotel lobby with my life, I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel itself. The room was clean and comfortable (I especially liked the shampoo & soap). WiFi worked flawlessly. The complimentary breakfast was above average, with apparently-real scrambled eggs and biscuits that were quite good. My only real complaints with the hotel itself (other than the "death to all" parking lot security) are minor: too many lights in the room didn't work, and the pillows were the usual "soft" rather than "firm." When will hotels learn that some people don't want to sleep on sacks of wet sand? All told, I would stay here again, at the price I got (assuming I can get past the barricades). Definitely above average for the modest price I paid (in Roman terms, about L dollars plus taxes per night).

Dining tip:
Short drive from hotel
South Congress Avenue (between Riverside Drive and Oltorf Avenue) is where it's at these days. "Snack Bar" has good upscale comfort food (I never liked marinated beets before!) and The Woodland has one of the best pecan pie slices I've ever had.

Decent Hotel
Hotel was average in every way. The room was clean but modest. Not sure if the ac was turned off for the winter or just not working but the fan worked and we lowered the window so the room stayed cool. The t.v. didn't have HBO even though it was on the channel guide and there was a movie guide in the room. Was in a great location close to restaraunts and the University of Texas Football Stadium. It was a $10 cab ride to the stadium which saved us having to search for parking and fight the traffic ourselves.

Not the best part of town, but worth it
Hotel was very good; comfortable, good breakfasts, friendly staff, and surprisingly quiet for its location. It's located right next to a major freeway interchange and in an area that is not aestehtically pleasing. The hotel also was not easy to get to as the road signs were confusing and one way streets made it even more difficult. However if you stay a few days you'll get used to the streets and driving to anywhere in Austin takes less than 20 minutes, and usually less. I would stay at this hotel again.

Good hotel, but...
Hotel was fine. It had all the basic, important stuff down. Staff was friendly, room was nice and quiet, bed was suitably firm, parking lot was well-lit and seemed relatively secure, and the breakfast buffet was pretty awesome for a hotel in this price range. On the down side, the TV wasn't hi-def, and the A/C in my room made funny noises at times. As it was cool enough during the night while I was there, I didn't have to run it while I was trying to sleep. The "workout room" is three cardio machines crammed into a very tiny space that might have been a closet once. The wireless internet is barely faster than 56K. But for the price you are paying, these are very minor concerns.[...]

Good value to go and watch the longhorns
I arrived lat and left early the room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. Air conditioner was quiet, sometimes these 3 star hotels have very loud ones.

Good spot for the cost
It was clean, nice and the staff was friendly. It was nothing special but for 147$ it was a perfect spot to lay our heads at night. I would reccomend to anyone wanting a clean and cheap hotel!

Great Price, Crazy Highways
Stayed here as an alternative the expensive across the highway suites. Great rate, great breakfast, the full size beds felt a little on the smaller size and aren't recommended for two. The tv reception was the worst thing, some channels were blocked or really fuzzy or dark.

Time-saving tip:
Short drive from hotel
A little difficult to de-tangle the highway structure around there to get there. Cut through a adjacent parking lot multiple times for the easiest access due to one way highways, once we mastered that, it was great.
