Fabulous Getaway!
My son has lived in South Austin for 3 years and I have stayed at several different places in this locale, but this is by far the best. The pool is incredible, and unlike some places I have stayed, the room was quiet and peaceful and I was able to get some much needed rest. I will defintely be back!

Disappointed
I have attended many conferences at this hotel and wanted to stay there with a friend as part of our vacation. I made the reservation with Orbitz May 22nd for a room July 17th. I requested a non-smoking room. Upon arrival, I was given a smoking room and was told by the desk staff that since I booked through Orbitz that my request could not be honored since they were booked solid. I was very disappointed with the Omni since I booked several months in advance and am an Omni Select Guest. It will make a difference in selecting hotels for the agency that I work for and reservations that I make on their behalf.

Omni Austin Southpark
We stayed at the hotel on our honeymoon night because it was close to the Airport and we were leaving early the next morning. We enjoyed our experience there even though our stay was short.

The good and a little bad
Great location...close to a lot of entertainment. Great pool and pool area. The central air unit in the room was very noisy when it came on...sounded like an alarm clock buzzing...was very annoying.

Omni Austin Southpark
Nice hotel and we enjoyed the pool a lot...although there seemed to be a LOT of kids there the weekend we stayed. Front desk staff was very helpful and gave us a late checkout with no problem. They were also helpful suggesting restaurants and printing directions for us.

"A good getaway"
I enjoyed my stay at the Omni Hotel Southpark. It can be a ways from the attractions of Austin if you do not have a car to get around in. We ended up paying quite a bit in taxi fairs throughout our stay. The hotel also does not have a free continental breakfast. The restraunt is nice but ban be expensive espeically for breakfast. The pool was one of the best features of the motel. It is open 24 hours and with the nice Texas weather it is quite enjoyable during the evening hours.

Classy but expensive
The hotel overall was very classy and offered many amenities that would justify the price we paid (indoor/outdoor pool, fitness center, valet, etc). Unfortunately, the room is very standard - king bed, tv, radio, small bathroom. Compared to a room at La Quinta, the only difference would be in the brand names of the furniture. We couldn't even open the refridgerator without a special key (glad we didn't have leftovers). I would definitely skip room service in favor of Austin's awesome restaurants, and bring your own bottles of water back to the hotel (unless you want to spend $5 a pop for Evian!) Bottom line is that, if I had been able to use all the amenities that came with what I paid, I might have felt the price is justified. The hotel would be worth the expense if you are traveling without kids and want to spend time relaxing in the pool or kicking back in the bar.

pretty good
Overall a very nice place to stay. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Room was clean and comfortable, nice pool and workout facility. I wish that they had a shuttle before 7am. The restaurant was not so good. The steak I ordered was overcooked and tough. I would have reordered but the flies were getting bad. The dining experience was not anywhere near the level of the rest of the hotel.
