Great place to stay for ACL!

We went to Austin for the ACL festival. The hotel was close to the shuttle (actually walked to ACL the first day - took about 30 min). Also close to the State Capital building, 6th street entertainment, Congress Street (where the bats come out at night) and near public transportation (though we never used it). Staff was friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

Entertainment tip: Short walk from hotel

If you're heading to ACL - book here. About a 5 minute walk to the shuttle, which is more efficient than we could have ever imagined. Never waited in line for it.

Great hotel in Prime Location

We really enjoyed our stay at the Omni for Austin City Limits Festival. The staff was great and so was the room. You couldn't ask for a better location, just 2 blocks from 6th street and few blocks from Stubbs. The express bus to airport is block away. Cost us $.75 to ride bus 20 min to airport vs $30 cab. Would definitely stay on next trip.

Austin stay in Sept 09

Besides moving rooms three times in four nights, we did enjoy the hotel. I reserved a king room, but on check-in was given a double room due to construction noise on the side of the hotel where they'd held a king room for me. This was considerate, so I agreed to the room swap. However, after my 6'5" husband and I tried sleeping on a full size bed, the hotel was able to accommodate us with a king room the next morning, when we requested the change.

Great place to stay close to the action

We came for a relaxing, fun time and that is what we got. The hotel is just a block or twn from the famous sixth street action, and everyone we encountered was very nice. We relaxed at the Spa which was wonderful and continued the fun at dinner and beyond :) Great loction and in walking distance from anything you need.

Labor Day Weekend at the Omni downtown

The downtown Omni staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean. The only draw back to this hotel is the dining. You will need to explore other hotels near by to find a good dining expericence.

Too many problems for the price

The Good: Great location, excellent concierge service, good breakfast buffet, clean rooms, and peaceful pool. The Bad: When we first arrived, we were told that they didn't have any non- smoking king rooms, and although that was our request, it was not guaranteed- I have severe allergies, which I mentioned when booking. We had to settle for a downgraded room, and it took several members of staff to later switch us to the room we paid for initially. We were walked in on THREE times by various members of staff, who were apparently not trained to knock or understand what a "privacy" sign on the door meant. Perhaps we wouldn't have been so cranky about this, if we didn't lose sleep for five consecutive nights in a bed that was about as comfortable as a concrete slab. As far as small issues, we clearly heard the extremely ill woman next to us vomitting all through one night (aka: hotel is noisy), I woke up with mysterious insect bites each morning, and the "fruit and cheese" plate the hotel sent us to apologize for our troubles arrived two hours after it was promised, warm, via room service who boldly entered the room without knocking (during the WRONG time, might I add.) All in all, if you're going to spend a decent amount for a room in Autin, stick to a Hyatt.

Great location and facilitiy

Loved the location - perfect for going out at night. Just blocks from everything. Amazing restaurants and music venues/bars. Walking distance to the lake/river where we went kayaking for the morning and took a run by along the path by the water others. Great work out room with newer equipment. Didn't use the pool as it was small and too crowded for me but it was a nice area on the roof with great views. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were nice size, nice amenities and VERY comfortable beds. Great value for the rate.
