Pretty Good

Hotel was nice in some parts, but needs updates in other. Staff was extremely nice. The major problem is the paper thin walls. We were woken up by construction and neighbors each morning. We were moved to another room when asked, but the 2nd room was just as bad. Rooftop pool is small but nice.

Staycation

I booked a room for a weekend in the city for a reunion with a friend of mine. The location is great, you can walk around downtown, or take a pedi cab to get to the east side if you need. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, the room clean and the rooftop pool was great. I will be staying here again.

Great location, amenities lacking

The hotel was nicely located near all the attractions in Austin, mainly 6th street. The only time we took a cab was to go to the Airport. For the most part, we walked everywhere, including to the State Capitol. The downside, we could hear some music at night, probably due to the proximity to party central. The amenities, however, left much to be desired. The rooftop pool was beautiful, but to get there, you have to walk up an old outdated stairs and the hot tub was down for the entire weekend, which was sad. The pool is also on the small side and outdoors, so subject to weather. The interior of the hotel was really interesting, half of it looked like offices and the other half hotel rooms. They were under renovations and there was a convention going on so we could not get any upgrades to rooms and our party ended up on separate floors. It was still a pleasant trip because we didn't stay at the hotel much, but I might look elsewhere if I were visiting Austin again for a luxury getaway.

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

Bar hop on 6th street. Plenty going on. The cops block off the street to cars on weekends because it just so busy. Good times.

Extras too pricey

Everything was extra (and big bucks) here, including the use of the computers in the business office. Really?? Even had we traveled with a laptop, we would have had to pay $9 a day to use their wireless connection unless we joined their rewards club. My phone worked for an internet connection, but my husband's was blocked while inside the hotel. As much as they charge for a room, you'd think they could offer some amenities free. I mean, it's just a room you sleep in. Oh, and the shower area was so dark when you pulled the curtain, you almost needed a flashlight - no way could a woman attempt to shave her legs in there.

Try to go between 5 & 7 to get the best happy hour deals in the 6th street area (including 5th and some side streets) - even at the nicer restaurants there.

Great Downtown Hotel

Great hotel for a weekend trip to Austin. Food, music and nightlife was all within walking distance. Roof-top hot tub was not working while we were there unfortunately. Room was wonderful except lighting was a little inadequate. No overhead lighting available except for one small light in room entrance that was burnt out. All other lighting in room was from lamps. Starbucks coffee kiosk in lobby was perfect. Overall good experience.

Excellent hotel and friendly staff!

I enjoy staying at the Omni in Downtown Austin. I've stayed here on several occasions. The hotel staff is always very accommodating. They are doing some updating but nothing too major to where one would say it's distracting. I will continue to stay at the Omni every time I visit Austin.

Nice experience in Austin

The location and comfort of the hotel was outstanding. Delicious food in the restaurant. Just a little problem with Hotel reparations, but all of them were on ours that didn't affect their guests.

Nice stay in downtown Austin

Spent five nights at the Omni Austin Hotel in early December. Location is great for walking to 6th Street music scene, state capitol, or warehouse district. Comfy, clean room. Hotel staff were courteous and helpful. Restaurant was a bit too pricey for the quality, but there are many other choices nearby.
