Cleanest Motel 6 Ever!

Simple and clean rooms. Very minimal by way of furniture and amenities. Best deal in Austin during SXSW unless you can actually stay downtown. Saved a bundle during this period.

Nice but small

We ended up staying here because SXSW had all the rooms in Austin booked, and this was all we could find. It was fine for a couple nights, but there weren't any "extras." No in-room coffee pot, no hairdryer, no shampoo, etc. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. It was only about $20 less than the Omni downtown, per night, and that hotel offers a lot more as far as "extras." I would not hesitate to stay here again, if my normal hotel isn't available. It was very clean and nicely remodeled.

Decent, newly remodeled...but only so-so

This motel is located off the service road to I-35 and is very easy to get to and find, especially when using a GPS to arrive, leave and return there. When I first pulled into the parking lot, the very first thing that I noticed was how the tall 10'+ fence surrounding the side and back area had spiraled barbed-wire across the top of the fence, just like you see at a prison. I'm not joking, seeing this didn't instill and confidence in my stay there. On the other side of the back fence appeared to be a low rent apartment complex. I stayed two nights, Friday/Saturday. When I arrived, there was only one person that was working the front desk and there was two families in line ahead of me and three families came in after me. We all started to become irritated over the slowness of the check-in and the fact that there was only one person working the front desk. After I got my room key, when I entered the room I was both surprised and shocked. Surprised that the room was newly remodeled and looked fairly nice. But shocked that there was NO CARPET and just linoleum flooring. This made the overall sound of the room much more noisy as there wasn't any carpet to absorb the sound of the room. The main (and only) window in the room was a solid and permanent non-opening window by design, it was not a window that was bolted shut, it simply did not open whatsoever. I felt a certain level of comfort and safety about that window design but also thought that it was used as a safety precaution in terms of possible break-ins/robbery. (remember the barbed-wire running across the top of the fence). The room I booked was a non-smoking room...but this room literally smelt like an ash tray. The room was saturated by the smell of cigarette smoke and I was not sure if it was from previous guests smoking in the room when they should not have been or if it was coming from adjacent rooms with people smoking. I should have requested another room but I just let this one slide and dealt with it. Like I said, the room itself was newly remodeled. It looked nice enough but wasn't anything that impressed me overall. There were fewer towels than I expected, just enough for one person only. One hand towel, one wash cloth, one towel mat and two bath towels. The towels were very thin and cheap. As others have reported, the beds are not very comfortable. There was only a mattress (no box springs) resting upon a bed frame. Without the box springs, the mattress had no give and was noticeably stiff and rigid. The pillows were decent enough but not very full and comfy. I also noticed that the rubber siding on the underside of the room's door was either missing or too thin. You could see daylight streaming in from under the door. But what made matters worse is that crawling insects, about five doodle-bugs and some other crawling small beetle-looking bugs were able to crawl into the room from under the door. This could be a bad experience if you dislike seeing any bugs in your room. A couple of things that really irritated me was: First, I booked the room for two nights (Fri/Sat)...so after running about Austin on Saturday afternoon, I returned to the room about two o'clock to find out that my key was no longer working and I was locked out of the room. I went to the front desk and told them, I booked for two nights, why am I locked out of my room. The desk clerk apologized and re-scanned/validated my door key and everything was good again. Second, wi-fi access costs an additional $2.99 per 24 hr. period and therefore you must get a new access code for each day that you are staying. This additional fee had already been paid for previously when I booked online. They ran my credit card for the full amount for both nights when I first arrived and gave me a receipt. However, each time I asked for the wi-fi access code, the clerk asked for $3.00 cash and I had to tell him that I had previously paid for this already. My suspicions were that the clerk was going to pocke...

Nice for a Motel 6

The hotel is newly remodeled and nice. The room was really small but it worked for our purposes. My husband and I stayed there for one night. It was convenient to downtown Austin and there was a Wal-Mart right across the highway to pick up a few last minute items. I would recommend this Motel 6 over one just down the road (towards downtown). We accidently went to the wrong location and the cigarette smell in the front office was horrible there! When we arrived at this location we were greeted with a nice, clean smell and friendly staff. Much better!

Motel 6 Feb. 27-March 1

The hotel was clean! Best experiencne with a Motel 6 I've ever had. The staff was also very friendly and quite helpful in telling us how to get to our destination. The only problem I had was the hard beds. It was just a mattress on a hard board, no box springs to make the bed more comfortable. Easy location to find. Would recommend this Motel 6 to friends.
