La Quinta Inn Austin North

I was most satisfied with the size and quality of my room. My only negative was having my room lock fail, and having to hang around for a whole hour while the technician tried to fix it. It was not until I suggested he replace the whole unit that he went off to find one. I was late for an appointment as a result. Not good enough.

Traveled all over town showing my familiy Austin and local haunts. The hotel is a little aged, but nice just the same. I would happily stay there again.

Business Trip

The pool was fantastic, warm, 9 feet deep, and usually empty. Apparently most travelers here are just passing through. The staff were very friendly and the room clean and comfortable. The internet was so slow we gave up. Would have been nice to have an Austin map, they had San Marcos and San Antonio. Minor repair issues. Ice machine on our floor down a few hours, one of two computers in the lobby didn't work, printer not connected to the one that did work. So when I tried to get tour info I had to write it all out. I could not get tour reservation kiosk to work but that may be my fault.

We were in Austin for our daughter's wedding in Dripping Springs, TX. Good things: we enjoyed the managers reception on Wed. and Thurs. night. La Quinta was gracious enough to hold rooms for our wedding guests up until 3 wks before the wedding. I was disappointed that there was no refrigerator or microwave in the room, since they were listed on my reservation. It would have been nice since we were there for 5 days. All in all- it was fine but not exceptional.

I made reservation for non smoking room because I have kids, and I am not a smoking person, but when I arrived there about 8:30 pm, and no one at the frontdesk, so I waited for about 10 mins. After that someone appeared and gave me the key when I got in and my kids were tired they fell at sleep right away, but I couldn't sleep because of the smell of the smoking. But I didn't have time to ask for changing room because it was too late. So disappointed.

Our room faced the highway, but we didn't hear any street noise. The staff were helpful. The fitness room is minimal, but functional - we used it every morning. The breakfast buffet is pretty decent, as those things go. I clicked 3 on "Dining Options," but I'm not sure if they meant within the hotel (there aren't any) are in the general area.

Went to conference.

We just needed somewhere that was clean and had a comfortable bed.. We spent 90 percent of the time out of the hotel room. Beds were fine though and the restroom was clean and had plenty of towels (which is a plus). a couple of the plug-ins didn't work though, so we had to switch chargers out. (everything needs a charger now days).. Overall though it was fine though.

The hotel itself was great for a 3 star; clean rooms, plenty of parking, free internet, breakfast, etc. The only trouble we had was locating it; apparently there is another La Quinta on the same side of the highway less than a mile away. Hotel was a cheap cab ride away from downtown.
