A budget hotel with free breakfast and a pool
La Quinta Inn & Suites Round Rock South provides comfortable, well-kept rooms at budget prices. The complimentary breakfast and outdoor pool draw travelers who don't mind staying outside of the city, as the establishment sits just south of Round Rock, about 15 miles north of Austin. Plenty of nearby shopping malls and restaurants provide entertainment for those who prefer to skip the steep prices and hassle of downtown parking.

Overall, the hotel was ok. I reported that one of the phones did not work and it was not fixed. The driveway where cars are parked during registration was blocked. I parked behind the car and another car blocked me in. When I mentioned this, the employee at the front desk sighed heavily, stated it was his car and asked if there was a car behind me. When I said "Yes", he moved his car. Staff overall was polite and distant.

A bit disappointing
We were there on a house hunting trip and the rooms were average. The place was clean ice only on second floor ( we were on first) They were very noisy. The breakfast was a bit disappointing, the same hardboiled egg and weak coffee every day. For the price it was acceptable but I would not stay there again.

Not stunning, but certainly a good value
Given the low price relative to other hotels in the area, the La Quinta South was quite a value. Everything important went well (pro!): the staff was friendly, the room was clean, the bed was soft, the amenities were as-advertised, the free continental breakfast was good and consistent. The cons were very minor...the hallway around my nonsmoking room smelled like smoke (though the room itself didn't), the fitness center had old, partially malfunctioning equipment (though it didn't seem like a lot of people were using it), the bathroom light was apparently connected to a really loud fan. Overall, I recommend it for quality and value, but if you're the type of traveler that gets hung up on tiny details (like no Splenda by the coffee) you'll need to spend a little more.

Nice, but hidden!
I enjoyed the room and found it very comfortable. I had a hard time finding it, but was glad I did. I can't really blame the hotel. I found the roads in the area very confusing.

Great location, ok hotel service.
Looking at the colleges and apartments. The eating area at the hotel was very small,comparing to the last hotel we stayed. The room smelled dirty.

Better and worse
This hotel was average. The front desk help was good, except for the first night, when the night clerk didn't know how to get to the hotel. One night I found a wierd looking, white, insect/bug/millipede thing crawling on the wall by the sink - so that kind of creeped me out. I think they need to spray for insects. The price was comparable to the product...overall, an average experience.
