Howard Johnson Austin North

The breakfast at The Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel and Conference Center was bette than most hotels because they offered scrambled eggs, crispy bacon and potatoes along with all the regular hotel beafast fare. However, they were in the process of installing new carpet during our stay. This made the property a bit noisey and unsightly. The people at the front desk were a bit flakey too. Another disappointment was the fact that the hotel lounge was never open once while we were staying there.

I had seen some bad reviews about this hotel, but after my stay I have to say they were wrong. I really enjoyed my stay here. And i would def stay again. I was never bothered, customer service was great, anything i asked for i was givin. Thanks for a great stay!!!

I had a great experience at HoJo's. Clean room and pleasant, helpful staff. A little hard to get to at first, but once I became familiar with the location i could get around easily. The staff is great and is excited about being in HoJo's chain. They are awaiting signage and renovation. I would stay there again and would recommend them to anyone.

A good stay - but the construction needs to be completed, otherwise it's a mess outside and the rooms are booked in the back of the property :) It'll be much nicer when it's completed I'm sure!

This is a slightly overpriced hotel. It met my needs in providing a room on an otherwise sold-out weekend in Austin. However the room was rundown and the water pressure and temperature was at besy adequate for showering and shaving. The location was OK, but hard to get to.

Stayed at this hotel during the ACL festivities. My girlfriend found a small dog turd hidden in the dark on the side of the couch in the room. I have no clue how she found it, but it was there. The staff at the front desk promptly switched us to the room next door. The new room seemed cleaner, albeit smelled a bit smokey. Towels were only replaced one of the 3 days and we had to contact the front desk for fresh towels everyday. Finding this hotel was such a hassle. They don't have a howard johnson sign outside. Instead it has the name of another hotel. I don't even know if it really was a howard johnson. who can say? The rooms were plenty large and had a fridge and microwave. The hotel was quiet and it has a larger clean gym. Also the overall cost was pretty low. I would not object to staying here again if needed, but definitely would try to stay elsewhere next time.

The room that I stayed in need to be vaccumed. But overall it was ok.

Beautiful outside, no towels in room. Room a little dirty, smelled like smoke.T

We had activities at UT all weekend and this was a great location! Not too close to be in all the traffic, but only 5 minutes away from campus and downtown. The bathrooms aren't very nice or spacious, but for such a cheap price the hotel was exactly what we needed.

I will say you do get what you pay for. It is not the best hotel ever. The hotel is old and needs some remodeling. But it's a pretty clean nice hotel. I wouldn't recommend the breakfast...Not much of a selection. And when I went the sign did not say Howard Johnson it said St. Michael's so it took us about 45 minutes to find the hotel because the addresses we had were wrong. But it was not a bad hotel. I recommend it and I would stay here again.
