Allandale's great value for location and amenities
It's more like corporate housing. You've got separate bedroom and living area, which is cool if you're away on business. I love the kitchen and living area b/c I can close the door to the bedroom and feel like I'm at home. Overall, a solid place to hang out with access to fun shopping, great food and the highways.

Excellent value and comfort!
What a great find! Tucked behind a large bank building and about a 20" drive from downtown, these converted condos have full kitchens, a large living room, bedroom (with a VERY comfortable bed), and bathroom, with two television sets and free, fast wifi. The total per day was less than $100, which allowed me to rent an economy car and stay at this hotel for less than the 'discount' conference rate at the conference hotel downtown. The hotel is peaceful, and cleaning service is done promptly when a sign is placed on the door. The only aspects that are not exceptional are the towels (thin and rough to the touch) and the parking, which is a little challenging late at night. Overall, though, a WONDERFUL property and value!

2 day getaway and not a hotel....
Hard to call this a hotel. The accomodation was a 1 bedroom condo that was built at least 30 yrs ago. Appliances were 15-20 years old. Overpriced for their normal fee made it seem like a great bargain, but the 79 dollar price was closer to what it was worth per night but even that was too much. One of the night stand drawers smelled bad. This seems like more of a month to month type of rental and not a hotel. HGI is the same price and much better accomodations. Location is good for amenities like public trans and local restaurants. Continental breakfast was ok, the potential to be good but no cook on sight! You get what you pay for and maybe a little less. Bring your own bath soap and shampoo if you need a full kitchen for entertaining family. The TV's were old and tube type.

Homey Place to Stay
This hotel in North Austin is a comfortable one. The front office staff people are all friendly. The hotel feels friendly, not sterile, although it is nice and clean. The rooms are large, quiet, and a/c and heat work well. You get king-size beds and full kitchen! You get Time-Warner cable included. It is close to Post Office, stores, restaurants, bus line, and other services. I enjoyed my stay and recommended it greatly.

Dining tip:
Long walk from hotel
There's a Luby's Cafeteria nearby. It's nice, because it's family-oriented (kids free once per week), brightly lit, pleasant environment, helpful staff, food varied for all types of diets, prepared in healthy manner, and delicious! Afternoon specials for seniors. Good for lunch or dinner--and leftovers for breakfast! Open daily.

Family work and play
The only bad thing I could say was I thought I was going to have to cancel, Due to illness of one of the band members. They would not refund one penny of the coast. My base player sucked it up and we did the gig anyway. The hotel was outstanding for the price could not complain.
