Good Value/Location, Rooms are basic
I stayed here for one night on a quick trip to Austin. It's near I-35 and easy to get to and from. The rooms are fairly basic..but I was only in the room for about 7 hours. I would recommend for business travel or a quick stop over, however not so much for a longer vacation.

Reasonable rates, good location
The hotel is fairly close to downtown Austin (about 1 mile), so it is convenient if you need to go the convention center or anywhere near there. The hotel itself is average, could provide more amenities. Particularly good for SXSW, where the pricing is reasonable and you can actually still get a cab.

Decent location, aging building
Pretty decent location on the Lady Bird Trail along the lake made for an easy morning run. A 10-15 minute walk to downtown meant no cabs or rental cars. Just near the hotel in a cute but decaying neighborhood on Rainey Street is El Naranjo, an incredible and creative mexican restaurant of sorts. The hotel itself was incredibly average. The staff was totally proffessional and friendly, but it's hard to compensate for a mediocre, aging building. The bathrooms and carpet didn't give you that "clean" feel. The 24" tube TV seemed a bit 1990's. This hotel was $50 more per night compared to others better appointed in other similarly prominent and sized cities recently visited such as Minneapolis.

Two spots, the mexican mentioned up top or Jo's coffee on second. But honestly, if you love food, there are many good spots.

business traveller,,,,,never again
Unhygenic and dirty ....
terrible hotel..Rooms don't have double paned windows, as a result, there is constant noise from I35.. There needs to be a study on the noise levels, it is definitely not healthy.. The carpets are old, dirty, bathrooms were smelly... Terribly unhygenic, for any price...I can't believe that FDA or some other authority hasn't looked in to this hotel.. And a 3-star rating is clearly false advertising...
