Not Worth the Price

I spent 4 nights at this hotel. I had a cold shower on three of the mornings. If you want hot water, get up early. The location isn't great, however, there is a funky little diner next door. It is open 24 hours, so it's great regardless of time of day. Otherwise, you'd need a car as there isn't anything else near by. You are literally right next to I-35 and a hospital, so this is not a quiet location.

Surprisingly nice

The hotel was about a $10 cab ride from downtown, so the hotel's name is a bit of a misnomer. But for being motel-style (ie, enter from outside) the rooms were one of the nicer I've stayed in at this price point, and the breakfast was really good. It's walking distance from campus, and there are a couple restaurants and a convenience store within walking distance. The one failure was internet connectivity-- I had consistent trouble and at one point just resorted to using the unsecured connection from the restaurant next door! Other than that, very pleased. I'd definitely stay here again.

4th of July Weekend Stay

It was a lovely experience at a basic hotel. Nothing fancy here but, for what you get for the price, a great bargain. The rooms were clean and spacious, albeit a bit outdated, and the service was both friendly and professional. The only problems we had were that the shower was cold in the morning and, being across from a hospital, it was a bit noisy. All in all, if you're needing a cheap, nice place to crash near downtown, this is a good pick.

First Trip to Austin

This Days Inn was clean and quiet. It is not within walking distance of convenience stores; so, if you don't have transportation, that can be a problem. The desk staff were very helpful when giving directions. The adjacent diner was good. There is a bus stop immediately in the front of the hotel but we used taxis. It took about 10-15 minutes to reach most downtown locations (not during rush hour). We enjoyed the friendliness of the people we met--everyone loves Austin!

Spend more money for a better place

The staff were very friendly. Coffee, juice & donuts Sat. morning till 10am. Parking sucks. Very cramped. Hard to maneuver. Hotel located right next to I-35 and very noisy. Our first room was right at the front next to the frwy. I went and had it it changed to the rear. That was better. Small pool if that matters. It's not a place that I'd bring kids to for sure. The room was nice & clean, upstairs, a/c worked fine, but the bed was very squeaky. It had a rubber mat under the sheets that bundled up and made a lot of noise. Not very comfortable. Easy access to the feeder & I-35. Ten minutes at the most from 6th street. Has a diner right next door. Kinda ok. Needed some work but convenient and prices were average. We only spent one night there for the ROT rally 6th street party in 2010. I wish we had spent another $20 or so and got a much nicer place.

okay :)

The place was in a good location scince it was close to my new job. However, I found the pillows to be very comfortable, but the beds were VERY firm and I was hoping they would be a little softer . The staff was very nice and kept my room clean and restocked towels as needed .

The Good, the bad and the ugly!

My husband and I went to Austin for the Elton John concert at the Frank Irwin Center. We wanted a hotel nearby so we wouldn't have to drive so much. The location was close but the parking lot was small and the parking spaces were too small for my extended cab pickup truck. If you have trouble manuvering around obstacles and tight places you might want to choose another hotel. The room was spotless but too small for an extended stay. The large flat screen TV was great. The latch on the bathroom window was broken and would not lock so we were worried about security. The hotel is located right on IH35 and the hotel is pretty much beneath an elevated stretch of highway so you can hear quite a bit of road noise. Their was no hotel cafe but Star Seeds 24hr.cafe is right on the corner of the property.

Nightlife tip: Short drive from hotel

A convenient place to stay if you are not going to spend much time in the room. St. David's hospital is right across the highway within walking distance if you were to visit someone in the hospital. UT is across the highway down the road a bit. 6th Street is only about 4 or 5 blocks South of the hotel.
