This hotel is just as expected - a nice clean place to sleep. The on-site restaurant was convenient, but lacked any sense of personality in its employees (read; boring). Very convenient to Hwy 35.

Nice Hotel
Everything was great except the restaurant was closed. Would have liked that to have been included in the notes before I booked. Otherwise clean and quiet. A nice stay.

Nice weekend trip location
My wife and I had a Saturday/Sunday getaway to Austin from Houston. We wanted to stay close to our favorite area near Zilker Park and Barton Springs but all were filled. So you we chose the Clarion on I35 because it was only a short drive, non-smoking room, and less expensive than some of the other options.

good location to downtown
it was nice enough for the price. the first room we got smelled terrible so they upgraded us to a suite very quickly and it was fine. it's less than a $10 cab ride from 6th street bars and resturants, so it saved us about $100 by staying there instead of a hotel only a block or two away.

great service; bad hotel
The hotel room looks MUCH better on the photos provided online. Maybe we were wrong in expecting too much, but for almost $100 we got a full size bed in the smallest hotel room I've seen. The hotel came across to me as a re-modeled old Ambassador Inn, or something. The interior and bedding was new, but it's just not the nicest of places.

Austin TX is notorious for its 6th st bars/clubs. If you want a more up-town night out, try 4th and 5th streets (just down a block). More dress codes and not so many minors puking in the streets.
