Microtel Nashville trip
The hotel was clean, but the walls were paper thin and people were loud. Staff took care of children jumping off beds onto floor above my room. I don't think i will stay at another Microtel again.

Microtel says it all
Other than a very strong smell of cigarette smoke in a non-smoking room, and a less than energetic and accommodating clerk, the motel was pretty much what you would expect from "microtel". Just a little bit of whatever. A little soap (but no shampoo), a little room, a little continental breakfast and a little service. Chose the hotel to save money and got what I paid for. Too bad the Hampton Inn wasn't willing to work with us (a good size group) on price. They are the real loosers.

Short drive from hotel
Chaffins Barn Dinner and Theatre was great! If you haven't been, you need to go. Also, Loveless Cafe for breakfast was a grand slam winner!

Not pleased. Nice pool all I can say about it.

Not this Microtel
Not all Microtels are the same! I stayed in a very nice Microtel in Tuscaloosa a few weeks before, and I thought this one in Nashville would be in the ballpark, give or take an amenity or two. I was wrong! This one lacked coffe-maker in room, hair-dryer, shampoo, and snacks for guests in lobby. There was also a really bad smell in my room, like feet or worse, mold. I thought to myself that it had been flooded at some point. When I packed up, I found that anything that I had put near the outside wall (and you know there is not a lot of room to lay out your belongings in these rooms) was sopping wet, including bags, purse, clothes, etc. The carpet was entirely wet from the bed to the wall. Mind you, I was in Nashville for apparently the biggest catastrophic flood in history; the power was out when we checked out, kids were running around in the microtel screaming and playing games like it was a playground and parents were letting them, I guess because of the unusual circumstances? But the building is on a high ground--there is no flooding that took place in that area. When I asked the desk staff about water leaking into my room and my stuff getting wet, she tried to pan it off to the 'act of God' excuse. No, it was not anyone's fault it was raining a lot and the power went out, but it was Microtel's fault that their building was not secure from the rain. And they had to know it because obviously from the smell it was a regular occurrence. To her credit, she finally said she would comp the last night of my stay. I also did not like how thin the walls were. I can understand hearing the slamming of a door or the cry of a baby through the wall, but I could actually hear the whispered conversation of the folks next to me, word for word! If you want your conversations to be private, do not stay hear!
