just meh

Stayed one night as going downtown for an event and did not want to have to drive home. Desk clerk at checkin was rude - I don't know if she even said hello, checking in, welcome to ESA, how may I help you, how are you today or any of the above. It was more like she stood there and waited for me to speak to her and then never said another word, except to tell me I needed to sign and then she slung the signatory paper on top of my hand, not even the counter. I purposefully put the 'do not disturb' sign on the door as we were out late and would sleep in; maid service knocked on the door at 10:30 to tell me to remove the do not disturb sign when i checked out at 11....so they disturbed us, to tell us when to remove the DND sign, which is ludicrous. This place is seriously outdated, but as we just needed a place to sleep so as not to drive home, I thought it would be worth saving the $100 or more that we would have spent staying downtown or at a nicer hotel in west end. However, you get what you pay for and what you pay for here is a crash pad - definitely not (friendly) service.

Good deal!

Just as described with excellent proximity to Vanderbilt and West End areas. Very ideal hotel for those having to be near the hospitals in area.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Maggianos and Outback are directly across the street. Tin Angel is an excellent restaurant one block away with a distinctive menu and bar and an independent non chain choice.

correct price/value

Good contact with the personnel, correct for the price. The really bad point to avoid: the smoking rooms smell very strongly, impossible to sleep

Nice place, convenient location

Great location- convenient to Vanderbilt, West End and Hillsboro Village. The room was nice and the staff was friendly. It would have been nice if there were a pool, though, especially traveling in the summer. Overall, fine experience.

Anniversary Getaway

Enjoyable stay. Nothing fancy but comfortable which is all we needed. Very courteous staff. Great location in great part of Nashville. Conveniently located to the concert we attended at Bridgestone Arena. Would stay there again.

Great location for a fun getaway

Located across from the Outback and down the street from some fun college bars. We thought we'd miss the Vols pay per view game but the bar down the street had it on. A $8 cab ride to downtown makes this the perfect hotel for people that want to get out and see the city.

Entertainment tip: Short drive from hotel

Watch the cabbies in Nashville, they'll try to dive back and forth on streets to up the rate. make them stick to broadway if you're going or coming from downtown. tell them no shortcuts.

Good value

One block from Centennial Park, the Parthenon and Vanderbuilt. Very quiet and fairly new hotel. Great restaurant, Tin Angel, on the same block. Five-minute drive from Music Row. After 11 p.m., no one is at the front desk and entry to the hotel lobby (and elevators) is by your room key only. Ours didn't work at 2 a.m. Luckily, we weren't the only guests out on Music Row late at night and other guests let us in with their key - about half an hour later. There is a hotel emergency number posted, but no one answered when we called, and called. Good value if you're spending most of your time away from the hotel.
