Super 8 Memphis/Airport/East

This Super 8 is located on Lamar Ave just north and east of Memphis International Airport - although a realtively remote location - it's on 78 and is a high-traffic truck route - day and night. Some mentions to review... It was interesting to see Jet Airplanes flying overhead as you realize you're located in the Airports Glideslope area - that these big birds use to line-up and land on the runway. The rooms were clean, did not have to supply any extra light-bulbs - as sometimes you need to in some places. Bathroom has large tub and shower stall combo - easy-in-and-out. Coffee was available, but someone had taken the Crafe you need to make it in. So, I had to find a local store to even get a cup to reawaken myself after a long road trip. Overall - Rooms were well prepared, Lack of reliable WI-FI makes me mark this down a notch, Room Service - when asked to wake you - woke me 1/2 hour late, [bring an alarm clock - not supplied], nearly missing a wrap-up meeting with recruiter for a local job interview. Pool? Ok, but is not enclosed, only fenced, outdoor access and people had to use bricks to prop-open the door to get back into the Hotel as they swim and observe their children - so parents - PLEASE BE ADVISED - NO LIFEGUARD ON DUTY AND YOU MUST BE PRESENT WITH YOUR CHILD AT ALL TIMES! You could get in deep-hot-water if you neglect to do so. Hotel has gates and fence to protect it's customers - it would have been nice to use the secondary road access to avoid Lamars' busy traffic to make getting in and out easier. Breakfast consisteed of Doughnut, Roll, Coffee, Cereal - or you could have Waffles too, not bad - but sparse and no cartoons for the kids - kinda boring - like visiting with relatives that are too old to travel - quite sterile/lackluster atmosphere. One interesting side note - deals with the title. I know times are hard and things change, but you can still find exotic dancing - only right across the street - Married Couples take note! Was hoping to find a piece of Memphis, maybe see an Elvis or two, but wound up wondering why I spent too much money and could have slept in the car - where it was quieter.

Just old and smelly. Filthy furniture you would not want to sit on. Nasty bathroom and dity floors. It appeard that it never was cleaned. Lock on door was wabbly and appeared to have been broken into before. [...]

Our major complaint was we requested a non-smoking room. When we got there the room was smoky. We asked for and were given another room, which was better, but the non-smoking rooms are across the hall from the smoking rooms. So the hallways reek of smoke, and while we were there, people were smoking in their rooms with the doors open.
