Sept. 3, 2011 Bad place to stay!
We stayed at the Sleep inn last night in Memphis Tn, it was our first time at a sleep inn and it will be our last. There was no pool. The hotel room was the smallest room I have ever stayed in. No privacy for the bathroom. No balcony. No screen in the window on the 6th floor. One employee at sleep inn told us we could swim next door at the mariott, but that wasn't true. The breakfast was awful (ceareal, coffee, apples, bagels, and if you waited in a 20 minute line you could make a waffle. Out our window our view was a trolly and a small park area where 30-50 homeless people stay and you can see from your window. there wasn't enough parking in the parking lot and we had to use valet. parking is $12. it was rough. memphis is a rough and dirty town. we were supposed to stay a second night but we checked out early. it was bad.

Good Hotel with reasonable price
The location was very good: you can walk to the main street in Memphis. Breakefast was fair...and had good facility in the room "safebox" and etc... Only one thing that we were disappointed was parking was not free and self parking space was limited, so needed to get valet parking.

Great Location!
This hotel was located in a great place. The back of the building opens up to Main Street and the trolley system. We got a 3 day pass for the trolley system ($4.00 for seniors). It travels all the way to Beale Street and beyond. The hotel was very clean and neat. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Good, economical choice.
The Sleep Inn was a good, economical choice. There are no luxuries, but the room was clean, the front desk was friendly, the location was fantastic, and the price was right.

Compact room in Memphis' quiet center
The room style is compact, with a shower enclosure cleverly disguised as a large pillar at the side of the room entrance. As befits a room in the middle of the price range, everything is clean and free of odd smells. The breakfast area off the hotel lobby was too small for the late crowd (near the 9 AM cutoff) and the food selection was limited, so we skipped the free continental breakfast. The staff was responsive and polite. They were able to attend to our needs and answer questions about the area. The hotel is quite satisfactory for anyone who needs to stay in a downtown location.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
Try the A&R Bar-B-Que about two blocks straight east from the hotel for some good quality Memphis barbeque. Also take some time to ride the 1920s era electric trolley car which runs by the hotel every few minutes. It is a dollar (50 cents during lunch hour) well spent.
