A wonderful stay at Beale Street
This Hotel is all that you would want in old world comfort and hospitality. The staff are efficient and genteel and the accomidations are first class. A late night cocktail, accompanied by light piano music, in the lobby bar relaxes you before you return to a sumptuous room to your very comfortible bed. The location, downtown Memphis, is only two short blocks to Beale Street Jazz and food. Park in the Valet parking garage for only $7 a day and take it out as many times as you like. A wonderful experience. Twenty minutes to Mississippi casinos or Arkansas farmlands make the location even better. I'll return.

Nice place to visit if the Ducks don't fowl it up.
Nice Hotel, We even got one of the bath robes. The amenities were elegant and was only a few blocks down from the music and entertainment area of Beale Street. That area was fun and so many places to eat and listen and watch and enjoy. So the location gets a gold star. The room was street side and we don't recommend that to anyone unless the don't plan to try to sleep until 3:30 or 4:00 am. The noise was thunderous even on the 6th floor. Between the roar of bikes and the room shaking bass from autos below as well as the loud banter from the boisterous crowd, it wasn't a good night for trying to get some z's from a good day and evening out. If you want to see the ducks then plan on getting a place 45 minutes to an hour before their appearance and prepare to wait... it gets crazy... all to watch ducks waddle back and forth between the elevator and the really impressive fountain. At 5pm, it's all fun and everyone is juiced up to see them. At 11am (checkout time), it's a nightmare. We haven't figured out the 11 am ploy yet. Everything gets bogged down, from luggage porters to valet parking. We called ahead about 40 minutes before the duck walk at checkout and still didn't get out of there until noon because of the backwash of ducks and checkout congestion and calls for valet parking. The elevators stop at every floor for at least a half hour before and even longer after the morning duck walk as people try to get everything together and share the elevator with luggage racks and their handlers. At the same time, one of the elevators is dedicated to the ducks, so the remaining three elevators have to handle 25% more traffic and just don't seem to be able to do it well. There is bedlam in the morning especially as the path the ducks follow is only a small strip of carpet and no attempt is made to aid in viewing the area unless you are first on the line. And if you're not tall, don't be on the second, third or fourth line... you won't see anything as the first liners and some second liners will crowd together for just about every viewing spot there is available. Even the balcony viewing fills up quick. Even so, if we make it back to Memphis, we might consider staying there again, but probably only with an inside room (not on the street)... It seems it might just be easier to stay at another nice hotel nearby and just trek over if we want to see the ducks march. We're glad we went... and glad we stayed there for the experience... ONCE.

Easy walking to great dining experiences
The room was very clean but it still smelled of smoke even though they brought us a purifier. The corridor smelled horrible. Beyond this,it took 30 minutes at least to get from the hotel lobby to our room. They have coordinated the ducks marching with check in and check out, which is chaotic. Oh yes, our hotel room was right by the elevator - so much for our getaway night in Memphis without children.

fun time for all
The Peabody Memphis treats you like you are important to them. Even the cleaning staff would greet you in the hallways. And the ducks are a hoot!

Grand Elegance
The Peabody Memphis is located 2 blocks from Beale St and across from the AutoZone Park, home of the Memphis Grizzlies. The renowned Peabody Ducks can be seen between 11am and 5pm every day in the ornate fountain in the lobby. Between 5pm and 11am, they reside in the Duck Palace on the roof. The rooms are clean and pleasant. Two fine restaurants, gift shops and clothing stores are located in the hotel. The Sunday Grand Buffet is excellent and pleasing to the eye, as well as the palate. The only problem I had was the Peabody Memphis is not very wheel-chair friendly. Access to the restaurants was impossible from the lobby, as was access to most of the shops. An automated door would be a useful addition, without detracting from the grandeur of this fine hotel.

Short walk from hotel
The legendary Beale St. is packed with food and music. The carriage rides, the Backbeat Mojo Tour and Ride the Ducks Tour were all informative, as well as entertaining. A weekend is not enough to do justice to this grand old city.

My review of Peabody Memphis
My stay at the Peabody, Memphis, was consumed with business, giving me no time to explore the hotel or surrounding area. What I saw of it was pleasant, though I never found where to get a latte or quick cup of coffee to go. (No coffee in the room!)I slept well in the queen bed and had no problem with the noice level. The room itself was quite small, as was the bathroom. There was no vanity area for toiletries, which had to be carried in and out as needed. A local newpaper was provided in the morning. But still no coffee!

Blev förvånad, besviken och arg
Blev förvånad, besviken och arg när jag var tvungen att betala USD 10,95 för, vad de kallade "Hotel sevice fee", fast vistelsen var betalad i föskott.
