week-end getaway
the staff was not friendly. I had a wall to wall mirror at the head of my bed. It felt like i was being watched. the bath tube was stained or not cleaned.

Not clean
As a traveler who had been driving all day, I wasn't able to rest well. The bedding and bath were very dirty. Although the room was nonsmoking, the floor level smelled heavily of cigarette smoke.

Cheap but ok
For an over night to rest and sleep it was a good bargain. The hotel could use a good cleaning though. Mold in the bathroom and dingy carpets. Worth the price for a short term stay.

Had to stay there
I travel 30 weeks a year and I know what to expect from Microtel. Bottom line, it's a budget room. However, when you rent a room for under $50 a night not a lot of that fifty goes into the upkeep. You pay your gas, water, and electric bills and your staff and there is nothing left to re-invest in the upkeep of the building itself. Aware of this, the clerk showed me 4 or 5 different rooms until I could find one I could stay in for a week. So cheers to him for hanging in there. And it's not just Microtel. Red Roof, Motel 6, Super 8, Days Inn and so on. THere are some properties that are kept up, but this magic price range which used to be my bread and butter as a small business owner has more or less lost it's magic.

Short drive from hotel
Every chain restaurant is within a short drive and a pretty good wine shop shares the parking lot.

Irritated Traveler
Poor customer service
The room itself was fine. I simply needed a place to sleep for the night and while it had an odd (not bad, just odd) smell, the room was clean. When I arrived, however, a few minutes before the check in time I was informed the rooms were not ready and I would have to come back. When I returned after the event I was attending the front desk clerk was barely understandable and when I asked him to repeat himself he said "never mind" and began selling me a room for the night. After I went up to the room to check it and went back downstairs the front desk clerk stopped me to ask if the room was empty and had been cleaned. If you want a place to stay and are not concerned about actually having a room when you arrive stay here, otherwise check into one of the other many hotels down the street.

Dining tip:
Not Applicable
There is dining close to the hotel, but due to high traffic volume in the area you will want to drive. I previously lived in Knoxville and recommend Famous Dave's and Puleo's which are both across the (busy and not pedestrian friendly) street from the hotel.

nice stay
Rate was very good, staff courteous, room was clean and met my needs. Spent 3 days here & will return when back in the Knoxville area. Continental breakfast was provided as posted. I ate a bagel w/cream cheese & toast each morning with fruit juice and coffee (there were other options...nothing extravagant).
