Single Couple Weekend Getaway

The front desk lady didn't really know what she was doing. She must have been new. Everything was pretty average. Nothing spectacular except it was centrally located and clean.

Chesapeake's, a local institution, is a short walk and an excellent place for dinner.

There was mold on the ceiling. I'm allergic to mold so was really sick from it. We reported it and I was told I would receive a call from management within 24 hours. I never got that phone call. The staff was awesome. Everything was great other than the mold. We expected compensation for that for a room that was 200 bucks but never heard from them. So would not recommend this hotel.

Nice

They seem to be doing perpetual renovations of this hotel -- both last spring and last week, with no signs of progress or completion, at least to my eye -- but if you can overlook scaffolding, paint buckets, and a multitude of chatty workers in the lobby, you might enjoy your stay here. I have not eaten in the on-site restaurants so I can't speak to that, but Knoxville has so many great places to eat, I wouldn't eat in a hotel anyway. Go around the corner to Market Square, or out toward Farragut where there are dozens of splendid places to eat. Calhoun's On The River is a stone's throw away. Knoxville is a great place to walk and shop and eat and just relax. The Hilton staff are wonderful and will attend to your comforts. The beds are very luxurious. Bathrooms are small but there are huge fluffy towels and plenty of hot water. Nice big flatscreen TV and beautiful views.

Money-saving tip: In Hotel

If you can, book a room with concierge lounge access. Although it is on the main floor (not on the 18th as it used to be, with a beautiful view), and is cramped at the breakfast busy time, you can get complimentary soft drinks, bottled water, and coffee all day long, plus hors d'oeuvres at five o'clock, plus a pretty nice hot breakfast served until eleven in the morning. It's convenient and a great value, and the staff in the lounge are very attentive.

Average

The rooms were small and didn't have a mini fridge. Pretty rooms, but too small for the price. Bed was a trundle bed. The hotel bar was a cool feature.

A good place for walking and dining

The lobby is a delightful retreat from a hectic day of travel. In the winter, a fire warms the lobby and comfortable seating invites people to sit and talk. The staff are professional and quick to answer questions. The location, however, was my favorite. It's just blocks away from the fun Market Square--a place of great dining and drinking establishments. The Hilton-Downtown is a fantastic place for a weekend get-away, but I wish I could have stayed longer to visit more of the area restaurants in Market Square and along Gay Street.

Take a chance on the restaurants nestled along the left side of Market Square (as you walk into the square). Great specials!

A Great Stay

This hotel was extremely comfortable and clean. We only stayed one night, but the staff let us check in early when we arrived, and it was a great one night stay. The hotel staff was completely accommodating from start to finish. Thanks for always treating guests so special, Hilton!
