Great host
Manager and employees went out of their way to be hospitable. I arrived too late to catch the bus to ball game. They volunteered to take me to the stadium, and gave me their cell phone number to call them when the game was over. I called, they came and picked me up even though I was for their opponent. I highly recommend the Knight's Inn.

wouldn't stay next time
My brother and I were in town to see my younger brother and catch the game. The towels were dirty and you could tell the place was run down. I think you will be better off staying at a Super 8 or Motel 6. This place was locally owned. They could have had better towels and pillows. The place was clean, but that is all I could say overall. I don't plan on staying here next time. I would recommend planning ahead of time, especially if game weekend. I was able to get a decent rate at the Hilton, but then the prices soared to $300/night. Also, I rarely used the staff for any assistance, I felt they really couldn't do anything about the living situation. The breakfast hours are from 6-9 a.m., which was too early for me.

Worst Stay Ever - Avoid if possible
Unfortunately, this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. We typically stay at a 2-star type hotel. I wouldn't rate this with even half of a star. My husband and I were travelling across country and happened to pick Knoxville the same night the University of Tenessee was playing a rival school. We were placed in the last room available, even though we had a reservation. The staff wanted to shampoo our carpet as we arrived, but decided not to because then we would have wet carpet. They were very apologetic of the room they were giving us, and I didn't get the impression they would stay in it themselves. The carpet was coming off the floor and walls, it smelled of smoke (a "non-smoking" room) and the window didn't open (pane glass, no sliding portion). My husband joked that if there wasn't a football game we could rent the room by the hour, and that we should probably spray bug spray before going to sleep. We peeled off the blankets, slept on top of the sheet and used our own pillows. The room held an awful stench that I didn't get used to all night. There was 1 chair, a table, a microwave, a TV/dresser, and a dorm size fridge. We left for dinner to get out of the place and left early the next morning (we decided to get breakfast on the road even though they offer continental breakfast & coffee). The staff was very friendly, but it did not make up for the lack of cleanliness.

Weekend gameday visit
The staff was nice and friendly. The cleanliness of the room wasn't the best, there were walls near the bathroom that had orange stains. the tub wasn't very clean. The top slide-in lock was broken. I thought that the shuttle for the UT VOLS home games was very convenient. Overall, it wasn't the best place to stay but it was good for a weekend in Knoxville.

Shopping tip:
Short drive from hotel
From the hotel: if you drive out and take a left and keep going straight across the bridge for about two or three miles there is a good shopping area with restaurants (Dining and fast-food) , wal-mart, and Target.

Great for the price
Very Close to UT. There with older kids for Family Weekend at UT. Staff very friendly and accomadating!! Nice free continental breakfast. FREE cookout for guests on UT home game days. Shuttle service to and from UT stadium available for a small fee. Over-all cleanliness good, except a little more attention is needed in the bathrooms. Would stay there again myself.

Okay So When We First Pulled Up..We Saw A Girl Dressed Pretty Provocative And Some Guy That looked Homeless Sitting With Her On The Stairs! Once We Got Inside We Received Our Room Keys And Went Up To Our Rooms..We Came With Another Couple So We Asked If We Could Be Put In A Room Next To Them..We Were Told They Didn't Have Any Next To Each Other. So When Me And My Boyfriend Went Into Our Room The First Thing I Saw Were Roaches!! EWW.. I Screamed Of Course..I Was In My Room When I Screamed But Weird Enough The Lady Down Stairs Inside Heard Me And Was Up There In 2 Minutes..And Changed Our Room Next To Our Friends Like We Had Asked For Before..And It Looked Cleaner At First But Then I Looked At The Bottom Of The Door And There Was About 3inches At The Bottom Of The Door That Was Open To The Outside!! Thats Prob. Why They Had Bugs!! And There Were Bugs In That Room Too!! I Counted Like 6 And Thats All That I Saw...but That Doesn't Mean There Weren't More..I Had to Shower On A Towel In The Shower Bc The Tub Was Black And Grimmy At The Bottom.. There Were Spider Webs Every Where!! And Stuff Was Broken..No Ash Tray In A Smoking Room!! Just Terrible..I Would Never Stay Here Again Or Tell Anyone Else Too!! One Good Thing Was That We Were Really Close To The UT Stadium..And Got There Pretty Easy!!

Woke up with cockroaches on the bed. Went to take a shower and more cockroaches came through the ceiling by the shower head. Tried to get a refund for the prepaid trip, but the hotel refused- blaming Orbitz.

Great deal for the price
I came to Knoxville for a weekend getaway, and--considering my primary needs were decent location to restaurants and sites and price--my needs were met exceedingly. Decent restaurants were around and the Zoo and other tourist attractions were close enough to avoid a discouragingly long car ride. The hotel was very close to the highway and easy to spot. The hotel staff was friendly; and though they could not answer all my questions, they helped me find a way to answer to get more information. The rooms were decent for the price I paid and were satisfactorily clean.

Basic accomodation for an overnight stay
Upon arrival, the parking lot was being resurfaced, so we could not get to our room to unpack, we had to come back later, not the best start!! To our dismay when we did finally get into our room to unload, while settling in, we discovered dog faeces on the floor under a chair, and dog food & trash under the end of the bed. We were moved to another room, but obviously this whole experience made us extremely uncomfortable about the level of hygiene in the hotel. The staff were friendly & apologetic, but this did not help appease our discomfort at the situation.

The good, the bad, and the really ugly
The rating was 5 out of 5 positive reviews, so I tried it. But when we (my wife and I) entered the room it smelled bad, musty or moldy and maybe cigarette smoke though it was supposed to be non smoking, and the bed cover, the chairs, even the walls felt dirty. We were so tired from traveling we lay on the bed to rest for a few minutes, but soon decided it was not acceptable. But since we had "used" the room they would not refund our money. We called Orbitz and got them to cancel and refund us for the other 2 days I had reserved, but the one night was nonrefundable. We found other accomodations on our own. If you just need a cheap room and don't mind the smell, then maybe you'll do OK here, but my advise is go somewhere else.
