The cabins here are well kept, very clean, and quiet. When I go to gatlinburg from now on I will stay here. Make sure you take advantage of the indoor waterpark if you have kids. They will love it.

Frugal, yet Upscale Traveler
For those looking to get away and relax.
The first thing to know is that the look of this place from the entrance to the cabin is extremely high-end; if you want to feel upity for a weekend, this place will do it for you. We had wanted a good price for a place that was close to downtown Gatilinburg but away from the noise and hassles of life. This selection was exactly what we were looking for in that regard. We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite - that included a jacuzzi tub and a huge leather sectional, two TVs, and a fully-loaded kitchen (food excluded of course). The view from the suite was nice; the only exception to this would be that the lodge uses Gators and golf carts to move around the property - they are excessively loud and do take away from the peace and quiet. We could not keep our balcony door open to enjoy the serenity of the outdoors when relaxing because the engine sounds were too loud. Aside from this, there was one other issue - the occupant next door snored...and we could hear every bit of it. The shuttle service was nice and since it rained, we used it frequently. It was free and allowed us to go from our suite/cabin to the main lodge to eat, drink, and pick up items from the in-house market. It was very nice that the in-house market was open 24/7 - we decided to have breakfast in the suite/cabin and grabbed some bacon, eggs, and bread. This ran about $15.00 for the three items, but it kept costs down overall, and we didn't have to wait in line and the acclaimed Pancake house. The line on Sunday AM was about 2 hours. Regarding the eating options on site, the restaraunt was managed by a bunch of over-taxed and politely-grumpy folks. The line for dinner was over 1.5 hours, and the facility had the capability of seating many more (they did not seat at all of the tables) and explained that they did not have the wait staff to do so. We decided to eat at the bar, where the bartender/server was observedly frustrated with the Point of Sale (AKA cash register). He did however serve us promptly and did warm up to us - once he realized we weren't going to be an additional pain in his neck. The food was excellent (we recommend the brisket, rib, chicken, pulled-pork combo for 2); we had enough for dinner and lunch the next day (another great cost-saver!). We did not visit the water park because it appeared very kid-centric, and due to the weather, we did not visit the pool. We did however use the jacuzzi tub twice and both times, we ran out of hot water before the tub was filled past the jets...then about 10 minutes later, we were able to add more hot water and fill it up. The suite/cabin had a nice cable selection (about 25 channels, including multiple movie channels). Lastly, I would note that the decor was beautiful - minus the HUGE, signed picture of Dolly Parton - which was humorous (no offense Dolly).

I would not recommend that you purchase the ticket-pass for the Ripley's sites (Haunted adventure, believe it or not, etc.). The locations are extremely small and much too insignificant for anyone to see. The acquarium was the nice and largest of the entertainment options, but Gaitlinburg is not the most likely place to see quality acquatic life - see something like this in Florida or CA. Instead, spend time (for free) going hiking in the Smoky mountain forest - go see one of the falls! Stop by some of the overlook areas and for sure, spend the 14 bucks to ride the lift and see the entire city.

Thought we'd try something new
My wife and I wanted to stay somewhere different on our trip to Gatlinburg. The Westgate Smoky Mountain Resort and Spa was a very nice change from being right in the middle of all of the noise of "main street" Gatlinburg. The service was great, the rooms VERY nice n clean. It was nice and quiet and when we decided to spend a day in Gatlinburg, they had a trolley to get us there and back. We really enjoyed our weekend

not so much peace and quiet
beautiful location, but it wasn't the peace and solitude I was looking for. The walls are thin and I could hear conversations, the blow dryer, etc from next door. The laundry room that was in the middle of our two rooms was pretty loud, and due to some inconsiderate guests who decided to do laundry at 11pm, the buzzing sound of the dryer going off, was quite alarming. You pay for extras, uincluding phone and internet, nless you are one of the timeshare owners.

trolleys are the way to travel throughout Gatlinburg, and they are very cheap. The trolley through the National Park was approximately 1.5 hours and only cost $2. It was a great overview of the Smokies. Concierge was quite helpful with all of the attractions, etc.

Somewhat disappointed
A check-in agent gave our room to another guest with the same last name and first initial before we arrived. They accomodated us with what was supposed to be a nicer room. The room was very nice with a seperate sitting room/kitchen, king-size bed, and 2 flat screened TV's. However, it was sandwiched between two other units with adjoining doors on both sides, through which we could hear every conversation in the next rooms. Also, there was only one very small window in the unit that looked out over the parking lot, where most of the rooms had balconies overlooking the mountains. Being marginally claustrophobic, this was a problem for me, and we requested a change, but to no avail. The hotel was in a great location for us and had it not been for the room issue, we would have been pleased.
