Absolutely Amazing!

This being my first trip to Gatlinburg, I didn't know what to expect. After reading other reviews of this place, I decided to give it a shot (I was really interested in the sauna). I didn't arrive until 1:30am and expected to arrive late. I called ahead to let them know--twice--for good measure :) The lady that answered the phone was very polite and gave good instruction as far as where to find the key. I strongly suggest using a good navigator to find this place (I did). About the roads that bring you to the hotel, drive slow and pay attention!! They are somewhat narrow and can be very steep, but you are basically climbing a mountain to stay at the Summit. If possible, plan to arrive during the day. Most importantly, be safe driving. The room that I stayed in was a studio. It wasn't the Four Seasons fancy decorations... I didn't care about that anyway... I came to Gatlinburg to hike the Smoky Mountains. The view from the balcony was to die for--absolutely amazing!!! I will definitely be coming back to the Summit. The pictures online don't do this place any justice. Important to remember--if you are staying in the mountains, there is a possibility of bugs (for crying out loud)...even still, this wasn't an issue for me at the Summit. The amenities were more than I expected. I mean, it came with a small--but full kitchen and equipped! Very nice surprise :) Overall...SUPER DEAL. I am very happy with the quality offered. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

There was a Health food store that unfortunately was closed :( I went to the Food Store and found it to be okay..not too expensive. I'm not much into the touristy part of Gatlinburg (poluting the beautiful mountains)...I'll go to Orlando for that...LOL.

Weekend getaway

Weekend getaway. Nice condo near Gatlinburg, National Park, and convinient to the by-pass for easy access to Pigeon Forge. We were in a 1 bedroom condo with spiral staircase to bedroom loft. No issues with front desk for booking through [...]. Be careful when listening to GPS. Took wrong turn and alternative route took us to Bavarian way which ended up being a dead end. No fun in the dark.

Okay...not great

check in was easy, however I got the feeling that because we used [...] for our reservation that we were placed in the least desireable location at this facility. There were many vacant rooms, yet we were placed in the building with the worst views and the room was a bit run down. The TV's were antique and none of the remotes worked. The facility is in a great location and every building except the one we were in had fantastic views of the mountains. When I checked in my keys were ready for me and when I asked was there anything else I needed to do, the lady said "no, you have already paid in full...with those other ([...]) people" and it was said in a very condenscending tone. For the price I paid I will try another location next time. There are many facilities in the area for a comparable price.

The Summit

Awesome view...this place should be renamed God's Majesty. Everyone should do horseback riding somewhere in Gatlinburg. The only closet was upstairs in the loft, and it was a half closet, with a TV in it, that you couldn't put anywhere because their was no room upstairs to sit it. There was a cable hook-up but no where to sit the TV to watch! No dresser, No shelf. We used the spiral staircase to hang up clothes from, because we were there for 5 days. No dressers! No garbage bags were in the very small kitchen. The hot water heater was a very small size. Not enough hot water for a family of four to take showers. Just enough to put 2 inches of warm water in the bottom of the bath tub. Then wait an hour to get more. The fire wood that was provided, never lit. We had to go into town and pay for a box of matches and a firestarter log! After sitting 4 suitcases on the living room floor, there was not much space left in this place to sit and relax. Do not turn on the fan either, the room starts to smell like [*], we are assuming that smell came from the deer that was hanging up on the wall. We would turn the fan off and the smell went away, turn it on OH MY!! We couldn't stay up in the loft to much or you would start to sweat, due to not being able to turn fan on! Light bulbs were missing from lamps. We will definitley be getting a cabin somewhere in the same location next trip. After taking the stairs 3 flights up and back down with no elevator, it got to be a little tedious and tiresome.

Summit of Gatlinburg

the only thing is, the photos really didnt match the room, the beds were really hard, the loft was hot, and the couch bed - hideway was broken...... we stayed anyway, but probably will not stay at the summit again. The drive to the summit was really winding too....

July 4th Vacation to Gatlinburg

Our girls loved the Studio/Loft Condo. Was very neat and clean and cozy. We were close to downtown Gatlinburg, but still high up in the mountains. This condo has a great view of the Smokies. It was queit and refreshing.

Nice place, rough drive

The condo was very nice and clean when we arrived. It's not like a typical hotel where you expect maid service every day, but we knew that going in. Staff was friendly. Expect some spiders and maybe a few ants since the unit isn't occupied much of the year (I think we rented a timeshare, it was weird). However, for the rate given it was a steal over your typical Holiday Inn (our unit slept 8, we canceled our two rooms at the Best Western because this was cheaper overall). In summary, very happy with the unit. Just beware that if you're afraid of heights or from the flat midwest, the initial drive up is perilous. Steep slopes with no guard rails. It is approximately a 15 minute drive over 4 miles just to get into the city. For those not acquainted with the foothills of the Appalachia you're in for a treat! The view is FANTASTIC though. You can see deep into the Gatlingburg valley at night while watching the clouds mingle with the smokey mountain tops.

There's a grocery store that's easy to miss when you descend into Gatlinburg from the condo. It is just to the left of the first stop light. Get groceries there to save money at the condo. Also, look up the Gatlinburg bypass to save time going through the city on the weekend.
