Run down
The location was good,we could leave our car & walk to town. We did have a good mountain view from our room & we were right on the river. But the place itself needs a lot of updating & painting. The sliding doors were broken when we arrived but they did fix them right away. The room was pretty clean considering what the cleaning crew have to work with.

Bad information, Stinky sheets
The website had bad info for this hotel. I selected a preference for a smoking room, only to discover all the rooms were non-smoking. Not really a big deal, but definitely inconvenient. What is a big deal is the fact that the room was poorly cleaned, the bed sheets reeked of B.O. and while we had a coffee maker and microwave, there were no open electrical outlets. Really a shame as the hotel had a beautiful view of the mountains.

Older Motel
This place is what looks like a union of several motels/hotels over the years. They have different buildings. I stayed in the 'Mountain View' building. The picture shown that looks like a more modern tower is not where I stayed. There's good and bad to the older rooms for motels. The good is that the older hotels/rooms are nice and spacious. The price is also usually good or at leaast better than newer motels. The bad is that it's a bit dated in that you're staying in old cinderblock-built motels with an older look, older carpet, older furniture, etc. This place was clean, a good value, roomy, and a great location. If you've a family and you're taking them to Gatlinburg and you're trying to keep costs down then this is a good location. My only gripe is that, based on the picture, I thought I'd be staying in a slightly more upscale hotel which is what I was really going for. I've done the lower-end hotels/motels and, as I increase in age, I'm looking for the nicer places now so when I went to my room I thought, "Oh - this kind of place again." It's kind of a problem with some of the hotels/motels in Gatlinburg. They'll have a nice building or two, and then buy up the failed motel next door, call it their own and then you'll end up staying at a less than ideal place. As far as staff goes: I was only there one night. The desk clerk checked me in fine and a different desk clerk checked me out. I peeked my head inside the lounge and it looks like a 50+ crowd in there (may have just been that night) so if you're younger than 50 you'll may want to check it out and possibly head elsewhere for a drink. There's nothing wrong with it being the 50+ crowd, it's just a little weird to be either the youngest person in the bar or, conversely, the oldest. The 2-star rating isn't really for anything 'bad' it's just to reflect the type of place you're getting. 5-star to me would be a plush place where the beds were awesome and the furniture was new, etc. 1-star place is probably somewhere to be avoided. Based on value it'd be 3-4 stars if that helps get your head around it.

frequent gatlinburg traveler
we go to gatlinburg 4 or more times a year and generally we go on short notice and have tried alot of the local hotels and this one rates very close to the bottom first it had no wifi our view was of a nasty empty pool the chairs, bathroom sink and beds were falling apart we definitly would not stay there again the only plus was that it looks like they spent alot of money on the lobby wich was like 100 yards from our room and the location right in the middle of gatlinburg

Quick weekend getaway
I was unsure when first booking this hotel as the reviews were pretty divided. I must say however that this was the perfect place for a weekend getaway I had with my girlfriend. The location was awesome, as it is right next to the aquarium and a quick walk from the parkway. I would not recommend it for those doing extended stays (week to week and 1/2) as the amenities are bare bones, but for a quick weekend getaway this place is perfect, would definitely stay here again!!!

Excellent location and view
We got a mountain view cabin and the views were great and the location is perfects, many many places are within walking view. The room was big and spacious; however, the bed was very hard. The rooms were clean even though a bit old like many of the places in gatlinburg.
