Very Good Value!
I have stayed in Gatlinburg many times in my life and Rivers Edge is about as good a value as you will find. The hotel has age is average in about every way but it is also clean and in good repair. It's location is average (located behind Ober Gatlinburg) but most local attractions and restaurants are within walking distance. The room doors face outside and the balconies face the pool and River Road. TV was old but worked well; beds were comfy; bathrooms were average. Rivers Edge makes a Smokey Mountain vacation very affordable!

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
Bennett's BBQ is about a half block away south on River Road and has GREAT food and prices!! They also have a wonderful breakfast buffet (opens at 8am M-S,S) which includes pulled pork BBQ. We ate there every morning and If you also eat there for lunch or dinner, be sure to ask for the 10% breakfast coupon(s).

River Edge or End of the River...
After checking into the front desk, upon opening the door and switching on the lights we had found that two lights were blown left in the fixtures. then after settling down our bags a shower was in need. thats when we discovered that the hot and cold knobs leaked very bad, and the Hot water knob was very hot. good thing we took a shower and found that out before the kids got a bath. that know would easily burned a child just reaching for it out of the bath tub. The room was not cleaned as it should have been, cheetos and other snacks under the bedframe. and the Kicker, a plastic baggie behind the tv set that looked as if it had an illegal substance in it at one time. aslo the ventalation did not work in the smoking room that aslo lacked a single ash tray. later come to find that the heated pool advertised was just refilled the other day and wouldn't be warm for at least 4-5 days. didn't stop the kids but was a dissapointment no the less. Yeah, I know... But we did make the best out of the trip, the one lady at the desk was very nice and willing to do anything you needed to make you more happy with your stay. great location easy walking distance to alot of attractions. Maybe i just got a bad room... or maybe thats where the discount buyers get to stay. i did read that the room we were in was suppose to be 178 dollars a night... That would be a joke for the room we had. next time i go to gatlinburg i will get a diffrent Hotel...

The location was super and most restaurants and many attractions were walkable. They were doing some construction and renovating so parking was difficult. Overall a good experience!!

Check a map before just assuming the GPS will give the best route. Leaving the mountains we were using GPS and the direct route was over the top and beautiful but SLOW...

Covers the very basics
The room was dated. The covers on the bed were worn and had holes in them. The toilet leaked and wouldn't stop running unless you jiggled the handle. The caulking around the bath tub was old and flaking off. The landing next to our room had a huge television console still in a card board box that sat there for three days. A maintenance cart was stuffed in an open space at the bottom of the stairs. The elevator did not operate. The pool was kept locked with tools and pipes cluttering the sides of the pool. The breakfast area was cramped, cold cereal & donuts.

River Edge Motor Lodge
We loved the place! Staff was friendly and courteous to our needs. The room was very clean and just was we expected from the brochures. The problem was there were roofers installing roofing right over us and around us. I know it's one of those things that needs to be done, but we couldn't fully enjoy the balcony because of the noise and smell of hot tar. Otherwise, fantastic-highly recommend it after the roof is already replaced.

Short walk from hotel
There are 2 very nice restaurants very close to the hotel. Good BBQ at one. If you're tired after a long trip (like we were) and don't want to venture out too far after check-in, this is the place for you!

run down and dirty
The bathtub and shower was dirty. There was soap scum in the tub and hair in the shower and on the sink vanity. The comforter was stained and the carpet was coming up. I was so disgusted that I didn’t even want to check out breakfast. Also, there is not someone at the front desk at all times to take care of issues. The next morning when I brought up the issues the woman said there was nothing they could do for me. Also, to get to the main street, you have to cross through a parking lot and a dark parking garage. I will not ever stay again. It’s priced cheap for a reason.
