Family Inns of America Gatlinburg Suites

We try to see the parade every year and this hotel is convienent to all in Gatlinburg and employees are always enjoyable

We go to Gatlinburg several times a year. This was a last minute trip, so we needed a hotel that allows pets. That is the ONLY plus for this hotel. Since it was Memorial Day weekend, our goal was to relax around the pool. This was not possible since we chose the ONLY hotel in Gatlinburg that did not have the pool open yet.(Yes, my mistake as I should have called ahead, but being Memorial Day weekend and 85-90 degrees, there are certain assumptions made). It was still green from the winter. We spoke to the manager who said the owner did not want it opened yet. Apparently, he is too cheap. That explains the paint pealing off the walls, the cracked sinks, the broken chairs, and the continental breakfast unfit for human consumption. If you are desperate, this is the hotel for you. If not, save your money. There are a lot of great places to stay in Gatlinburg. This definitley in NOT one of them.

I have stayed here more than once and will definitely be going back. The first time I stayed in the pent house and the second time I stayed in a suite. The staff has been very friendly and helpful both times I have been there and the rates are great as well. The rooms are older and the fireplace in the suite didn't work, but overall it was still a great experience.

When we got there the staff was kinda snobby, like they had more important things to do than check us in. Then the first room we got just about choked us with the smell of mold, the A/C unit was leaking in the room, and the carpet was soaked. I got them to upgrade us to a Suite. The suite wasn't that sweet. the furniture had hand grease allover it and the glass table was dirty. It had a Jacuzzi but it had been painted and the paint was pilling off. The shower curtain in the bathroom was nasty, with black mildew or mold around the bottom. Which of course put a smell in the air. The location wasn't bad If you don't mind the walk. We enjoyed Gatlinburg, but not the Family Inn... Next time I'm in Gatlinburg I'll be staying somewheres else.

The only advantage of this hotel is a location. We enjoyed gatlinburg.

Time to retire the old mattresses. Breakfast consisted of Little Debbie Cakes, toast, cereal, and drinks. Cleaning was very limited. Need to purchase more wash clothes, had to use a hand towel instead.

I was very surprised when I got to my room. It was very clean and had no odors of any kind. Everything in the room worked...the fireplace, the Juccuzi, all the lights, etc. The bed was a bit soft but very comfortable. I didn't use the outdoor pool but the indoor hot tub was fantastic after a long day of sightseeing and walking. The statt was very friendly and we had housekeeping clean our room every day. I walked around the room in white socks and they did not get any dirt on them. It looked as if the room had been redone...new wallpaper, paint, etc. The carpet was a bit worn in spots but was clean. The sheets were clean as well as the bed coverings. The view isn't the best from the balcony as you look at the Bearskin Lodge but I didn't mind. All in all, a great place to stay on the end of town but within walking distance to almost all attractions and eateries. Next time in Gatlinburg, I will stay here again and ask for the same room.

The door to our room would not lock when we checked in. We contacted the manager and he came and did fix it. He wanted to know if we wanted to go out while he worked on it. We had all of our stuff in the room and did not want to leave it unattended in an unlocked room. It took at least two hours for him to fix the door. In the course of the conversation, we were told that a guest locked himself out and broke into the room and that there had been trouble with the lock since. We had the impression that the door had been damaged for quite a while. In our opinion, this was a big deal, and the repairs should have been made before this room was ever used again. This was very inconvenient as we had made plans for the afternoon that had to be cancelled.

The Family Inn was great. We stayed in a room with a jacuzzi which was very romantic. It was also within easy walking distance of downtown Gatlinburg. Definitely A-Plus
