Staff very nasty and not helpful

front desk staff was terrible. Would not help us at all. We inadvertently booked a king size bed when we got to the hotel we asked for a room with 2 beds instead. Being the same price you wouldn't think there would have been a problem but they wouldn't help us at all. I've never dealt with any hotel that wouldn't work with you.

Tired

They've tried to update the rooms with granite tile in bathroom and granite counter with modernistic above counter sink bowl. Failed to upgrade carpet. Carpet is worn and dinghy. Rooms open to outside as is common in the south. Concrete stairs are seriously eroded and need to be redone. Air conditioner must have been upgraded and was much appreciated. I'm pretty fussy about A/C units and the noise they make. This one was relatively quiet and makes up for dinghy carpeting. Breakfast buffet is marginal. But, I don't expect much. They have the ubiquitous make your own waffles. However, as with most motels, they go to the expense of providing fresh made waffles, but cheap out on the syrup. It was the cheapest syrup available from the Dollar Store. This seems to be the norm for these places. There are inexpensive syrups available that would be several notches above this stuff. I usually carry my own because this is what I have come to expect. Place is fine for an overnight. I wouldn't recommend for an extended period.

Railroad Hotel Museum in Dickson. Museum in former hotel for railroad workers from the turn of the century (early 20th). Very well presented and quite interesting located downtown Dickson. Ace Cafe in downtown Dickson was a nice respite from franchises on the strip. Nothing fancy. But, a bit more relaxing with decent food.

It got the job done

Pros: Decent bed, Roomy rooms, OK price. Cons: Breakfast was horrible, Room was ice cold at check-in Overall, this was a decent, affordable place to stop for a night during a cross country road trip. I wouldn't recommend it for anything more. The front desk help was ok... as long as you're not racist. When I stayed, there was some cold weather and light snow the day of arrival. The sidewalks and stairs had not been cleared and they were very icy/slippery. I almost fell while carrying my belongings to the room. Upon entering the room, I found it to be quite frigid. I'm assuming this is to cut costs but it was not very welcoming. It took a while to heat the room up. The TV was kinda substandard when compared to other hotels I've been at but they did have DirectTV, which was nice. The breakfast was really bad. Only biscuits and gravy for hot food. No eggs or sausage. I passed on that and the waffles. I ended up just grabbing a bagel and an orange juice to take up to my room since the eating area is tiny and right in front of the front desk. I took a sip of the OJ and it tasted like rotten water. That went straight to the garbage. As I was walking out, I could tell the bagel was hard a rock. I ended up tossing that to the birds, but I'm not sure if they ate it either. I ended up just getting McDonald's after checking out.

Comfortable nights stay

The temperature was 13 when we checked in. I called ahead to advise of our arrival time, yet the heat was not on. It wasn't a great heating system and for three hours we froze waiting for it to warm up. Also, though it may seem a small thing to some, the sinks in the dressing area are large black bowls and are high. I am short and the water ran down my arms while washing my face, messy!! I will say it was very clean, quiet and the bed was comfortable.

Horrible experience

When we checked in and went to our room, we opened the door and someone was sleeping in the room. The vending machines took our money and when we reported it the employee just said "It should be working." The final straw was wehn I went to take a shower and turned on the water and then lifted the shower lever and the shower head flew off and hit the wall.
